ELD mandate is killing our fleet here in NJ. Started shipping interstate only last year (great timing right!). Now we've got to cover our fleet and the monthly fee's are atrocious! We're smaller, but even at 25 trucks the charges really add up! Demo'd keep trucking. I like the product, but they just started charging $50 a truck for a damn data cable.

Has anyone used amil freight? Check em out, seems legit.

Only company so far that's offered a free option by running 4 loads/month thru they're board. Sounds a little too good to be true, but i'll explore ANY free option.

Please let me know what ya'll are choosing. Thanks!

My current company uses peoplenet. Bet they are high. I have no idea what it costs.

Thanks for the info! How do you like using it? Haven't had a demo with them yet, i believe initial quote was $40+ per truck. Amil freight/keep trucking/convoy seem to best the best costing options. Will look more into peoplenet this morning

Is keep trucking now charging?

Alot of companies I've talked to are going to tablet with blue tooth elog System.
They tell me it's inexpensive and fleet affordable I'm thinking about signing on with a company that uses them but can't tell you more then that

We have purchased Fleetmatics a few years ago but we are not going to use their ELD option ( compliance issue) we have decide to stay with the AOBRD version. Their ELD is outrageously cumbersome and not compliant. Company is owned by Verizon but managed by other or original Execs

For single O/O or small fleet I would look into a company called VDO pretty neat stuff , good for a small fleet ( Bar Bones compliance)

My company uses Keep Trucking. We use it on our cell phones, have less than 10 trucks, and we’re local. I don’t know if using it on our cell phones makes it cheaper.

I tried it out last year. It seemed to work really good. Sent it to my brother who was OTR. He got pulled into a weigh station. He was still doing paper logs. They told him to bring in his paperwork and logs. When they asked to see his logs, he handed him his phone with that days log. Cop got smart and said, I need a hard copy. My brother took his phone, did a WiFi search, and printed off 6 six pages on their printer. Needless to do you can’t do that at that scale house anymore.

It does work well; simple and convenient. Sorry to hear that your brother ran into problems, but it’s funny that laws are put into place mandating the use of an ELD, and the weigh station gets freaked out by your brother using their printer to give them what they requested. Good luck finding a cost effective solution. I wish I could help you out.

He solved the problem by putting a wireless printer in the truck

Not like they did not know this was coming...Some we're hoping for extension from Feds so they could keep pencil whipping the paper...

Some still have want ads out there saying it's your choice paper or eld

It must be the high turnover employers

Look at ONE20 F-ELD NO monthly fee for less than 5 trucks. Device can be purchased for one time fee and used between carriers and trucks.

I'll continue to use paper logs for MY records since these few Local companies I drive at, will not get me on their e-log systems. These companies have no idea what to do with Paper Logs, so I do not surrender said Logs.
