The subs are not going away, but the limits you're suggesting sound very negotiable. Was that discussed in proposal meetings at your local? I'm at an EOL and our P&D sub is used for remote points only, mostly for delivery. They pickup maybe a dozen skids near the end of the month from one shipper. On occasion we run the points with shipments over 10K# because sub only has straight trucks and drivers have no haz mat endorsement. They're a necessity at our barn and no one is layed off, and the work we give them could not justify another employee, even a casual. It is too costly to run 230 miles to deliver less than 500#. I get it. I run UE to 086/ATL and see the subs running linehaul, but I understand that it's on unbalanced lanes and the road board is usually exhausted most of the time. I've heard that a couple of missed trips a month are sometimes enjoyed to have some time off. If your missing more than a couple of trips a month that's tough on the old budget, but it's probably more to do with the freight volumes being down, which I think will get fixed with a signed contract and some warmer weather hopefully!pay raises, restore vac.,leave health care and pension alone (no copays ) and the red circle must be at the very least changed to add one for every one retired or for whatever reason they leave, but the right thing to do is get rid of it all together. Anything short of that is a no vote from me.
Bull crap to pay 10 to 15% more on co-pays, that is a concession!I informed the Fort on their in house pre-negotiatians survey that my YES vote could be purchased with a simple return to the old vacation schedule, a $2.50 raise over a 5 year contract ($0.50/yr.) with all else remaining the same. I would be willing to pay 10%-15% higher co-pays on medical but NO insurance premium payments deducted from my pay, EVER! TM bought us pizza for a PEICE of our mind. I told our business agent at the union meeting I could NOT vote for anything less. That's going to amount to a little more than the $1K bonuses that a lot of major corporations are handing out since the tax reform passed, and they won't have to GIVE it to me, I'll EARN it!......So....I will settle for NO less. Hopefully a strike vote won't have to be authorized to get these reasonable increases, but THEY MUST pull that much out of their pockets. NO CONCESSIONS, AND ENFORCEABLE LIMITS ON SUBCONTRACTORS IN 2018!
Agree. I ain’t paying more on the copayBull crap to pay 10 to 15% more on co-pays, that is a concession!
No disrespect Sir, but it's a negotiable item with me. In our proposal meeting our BA said that might be an item the Union would have to consider....Remember it's a negotiation. However, I will vote for strike authorization to get back our vacation and protect the rest of our benefits. I could give a portion of my raise to my good Dr. Hopefully we don't have to threaten a strike to get something decent to vote on, but I am pretty sure that we will, but I think this vacation cut has hurt recruiting, and with the driver shortage it's something ABF is having to reconsider to hire qualified drivers.Bull crap to pay 10 to 15% more on co-pays, that is a concession!
A copay is paid when you go to the Dr., (hopefully not to often). A premium increase that the Union (our insurance provider) would require to keep copays at current levels, that the Company refuses to pay, would start coming from your weekly pay as a deduction and/or our insurance provider could just start paying less period. What and how much they cover has always been at their discrection. I think ABF is maxed on what they're paying on healthcare. They're paying it all now. No other outfit does that. Company paid insurance is pretty much unheard of these days, especially an A+ plan like we benefit from. We're fortunate to have that. If we get a raise, and then spend part of it at the Drs. Office, I consider that a WASH not necessarily a concession, but paying monthly premiums I would resist! IMHOAgree. I ain’t paying more on the copay
I’ll let ABF burn to the ground before I accept any concessions period. Screw these thieves. People like you are why we took concessions in the first place. No disrespect Sir, but it's a negotiable item with me. So what if Company paid insurance isn’t herd of. Our union fought for our insurance and you just want to give it up. Our insurance actually got better this year and doesn’t cost any more than it did before and your wanting to give it away. Your definitely a dumb truck driver!A copay is paid when you go to the Dr., (hopefully not to often). Agree!!! Nobody should be saying if they give me this I will give them this. Hell, didn’t that steal enough from you this contract were under now!!!!I’ll let ABF burn to the ground before I accept any concessions period. Screw these thieves. People like you are why we took concessions in the first place.
Well hell, I guess you stuck around and worked under the crappy contract for 5 lousy years....hmmm, couldn't find anything better or tell me why you still hanging around after I ruined your job? I'm ready to strike on the vacation issue if necessary, and your ready to strike period, so we sorta agree and we may get the chance to see the smoke and ashes. I didn't like it, but the Union never would authorize a strike on the last deal and dragged it out for months. I'm hoping if they deadlock on anything in these talks they call for a strike immediatelyAgree!!! Nobody should be saying if they give me this I will give them this. Hell, didn’t that steal enough from you this contract were under now!!!!
You guys did great! It took a whole year but you stuck to your guns! The union was going to let you guys stick yourselves in the butt but you guys said burn it to the ground! Good job!!!! You are the champs in my mind.Well fella's look what we did in carhaul, it took them 3 times to get it right, and they drug it out for over 18 month's. I don't think there will be a strike, heck they never even said anything about a strike until the last ballots came out and it said that if we voted this one down we would be on strike. The company is paying full boat on HW&P and they couldn't even figure what the insurance was going to cost them in the last 2 years of the contract BUT company said whatever it was they would pay. Nothing out of pocket from us,Good luck and stand strong
Thanks Sac we had guys up and retire after the first 2 proposal's,they had the time but weren't at the age yet wanted to hang around for a few more years, but they said they weren't getting into that mess. Were they scared or weak NO way these were 25-30years guys that said enough I'm taking the money and running.and i don't blame them. I myself is in the same boat as them, this will be my last contract and I'm out the gate.Driver shortage heck yeah but try finding a guy to be a carhauler, out a class of 10 maybe and that's a BIG maybe you get 2-3 and they may not be around very long. have a safe oneYou guys did great! It took a whole year but you stuck to your guns! The union was going to let you guys stick yourselves in the butt but you guys said burn it to the ground! Good job!!!! You are the champs in my mind.
