Check this out from our friends at Teamsters For A Democratic Union (TDU). Without their help, especially in the beginning, we could not have accomplished what we have so far! Thanks to TDU and everyone across the country for their continuing help in our fight to protect our pensions!

Fight to Save Pensions Provides Important Lessons
Over the past four years, thousands of retired and active Teamsters have waged the battle to secure their retire...

:funky:

Without their help, especially in the beginning, we could not have accomplished what we have so far!

Nothing has changed since November, 2014, so what has been accomplished?????? (Except that CSPF is closer than ever to paying half the eventual retirees Zero?)

Without their help, especially in the beginning, we could not have accomplished what we have so far!

In the video, every one of the guys cited holding meetings as the accomplishment. Meetings, giving False Hopes, without resulting action that saves the Pension, are detriments, not helping. The Pension was 24 Billion when I was laid off. It slid to 20 Billion when Congress acted. It was 18 Billion when CSPF applied for cuts. Treasury stopped the cuts because they weren’t large enough to save our fund. Last I checked, the fund is about 15 Billion. The only action proposed is a Bailout from the taxpayers Bill that sits dead in the water in Committee and won’t help.

The only accomplishment so far is Oldsters getting theirs, and yelling at Youngins watching the fund drained to zero before they’ll get a dime. In a world where we’re supposed to be united, half are greedily telling the other half to take a hike. A guy with 25 years paid in, but 45 years old, working a YRC or ABF dock, will have to work 20 more years and draw zero for 45 years Service. Math is constant. 15 Billion split by 410,000 Teamsters is only $36,000 per Teamster, and declining. That’s reality. If a retiree can’t afford cuts now, what will he do when it hits zero? Each day that passes, larger cuts will be needed...

jimmy, you know how many of those 410,000 are currently retired?

Your attitude stinks! Your not part of the solution so go away!
I saw a person on my ignored list had responded, and was curious. My first thought was 'he ignores me, too. So why is he responding?'

I apologize for responding to you, but this seems important. The reason why we disagree so much is because: you post mostly from emotion and attitude. I try hard to post only on logic, history, and results. I try to post using Who What Why Where When and How. By the way, I'm almost 64, and have 21 years credited. Since i see the fund failing, my current plan is to wait until at least 70 to retire. No use retiring and only drawing 5 years of pay before it fails.

FM's post that I responded to congratulates TDU for accomplishments. The fund continues to hemmorage. There have been no tangible results to save the fund. The video appears more like a "Im losing my home" pity party, than a viable solution. You don't like that I pointed it out. Sorry, this is about math, not attitudes.

The CSPF (Titanic) has hit an iceberg and is listing far from shore in freezing water. You seem to want people to gather on the deck and sing as she sinks. I'd rather join someone willing to patch holes and build life-rafts. So far, the group wanting to sing has organized against anyone carrying a wrench. If thats a bad attitude, sorry...... I'll try to ignore better in the future...

Im guessing, this is as good a time as any to review actions taken to save our pension

There were suggestions that Congress reverse the 2014 MEPRA. that's a non-starter.

CSPF put together a pkg. Treasury rejected it as not enough.

There was the Keep Our Pensions Act. Dead in Committee. Not even Dems supported it.

There's the Butch Lewis Act. Dead in Committe. Not even Dems support it.

I don't even know if the UPS offer still exists.

These are why I posted all the above.

There are only a limited number of ways to save it. Government appears to not being interested in a Bailout. That leaves private enterprise floating us 25 billion or so, or cuts. That's reality.

No one wants to hear your negativity! You don’t want to help so find something else to do other than tell other people to give up.

Actually, it appears that YOU (Not a collective No One) don't want to hear me, because I speak facts.

I didn't tell anyone to give up. I said they are chasing down the wrong rabbit hole. Explore the UPS thing. Make some cuts so that EVERYONE gets Something.

Attitude saves nothing. Results are the only thing that matters, and there have been none. My attitude is fantastic, for I'm for ALL, not just a special interest.

Your speaking your opinion not necessarily facts. The Butch Lewis act could work. You just poo poo it cause you don’t want to do the work to push it. Your negativity helps nothing.

It has 132 supporters out of 435 in the House. Needs 218 to pass. It has support of 13 Senators out of 100. Takes 60 to pass, and it’s not getting out of committee. Government won’t/ shouldn’t do a bailout for 410,000 people out of 320 million.

I thought you were ignoring me?:438::1sm364jumpbed::tr10driving03:

When you act like a child I have to correct you. It doesn’t hurt for these guys to fight for what they earned. Your such a jerk you cant see that fighting for what you want isn’t hurting anything. I don’t respect you at all. Why should I. You’d sell us all out.

Guess we simply disagree...

I don’t see disagreements as sellouts. Only those for censoring opposition do. I believe in Freedom, not censoring. If you wish to continue a path that has proven to not work, continue. But that means 50% will get zero. I see that as pure greed.

If a commander was ordering troops into battle, he would be irresponsible if he didn't assess viability and backup plans. The Butch Lewis Plan has 13 Senators support, and they need 60 to pass. It can't even get out of Committee. How is pointing that out, acting as a jerk? What is your backup plan????? We need one- fastt!

Let's review: during last year's election, you and I were both voting against big government . You called Mags a deadbeat because he is on SS disability. But now, im a bad guy because I said the CSPF cant/wont/shouldn't be bailed out by the Federal Government??????? Isnt that a bit hypocritical????

The votes aren't there. Like it or not, getting 13 out of 100 can't pass....
