Central Transport is the cess pool in LTL trucking. 10K wouldn’t be enough.
I agree. You gotta remember this area of NY State has had a depressed economy since I've been a kid. I know a few guys who had to take the plunge.

The 10K is true but.....there are deductions for destroyed low bridges and boardwalks....

No I'm not at Central. A few guys from Sysco are. Things couldn't be better. I'm not driving over an hour round trip to work anymore. More like 10 minutes. Enjoying my new gig and making plans to get out of NY in the coming years. God had a plan for me and I'm very happy with how everything has worked out. I'm starting days very shortly and I'm really looking forward to spending what time I have left with my kids before their grown. When I was at Pyle I was running ragged always feeling tired and always felt like a cold was coming on. Less stress and a much better quality of life is worth it over only a few dollars in take home pay. I hope your doing well.

Some guys never learn this until they are in their death bed. Life can be gone in a New York minute. Most don’t realize how much stress affects your health until it’s too late.
Yes. Can't complain too much. Doing my WC to portland, Maine twice a week. And friday is whatever. I give myself an hour one way to get to work. That is why I do a sleepout run. If Pyle gets a dedicated account near my house, good by linehaul
I completely understand. During the winter it turns into 45 minutes one way to work. It's really a good place to work there but with the driver shortage things are very competitive all around. My brief time on the U side allowed me into some benefits that I'm locked into for the rest of my life at a decent price. My mother had something similar from my father and her stays in the hospital paid her well as she aged. Pyle had something similar but no where as robust a benefit as this one. I have no regrets leaving. People my age are working until 70 so I look at this journey as one I may as well start to enjoy more. Once my kids are grown if I want to I'll have about 20 years left to chase the big $ if I want or need to. For now I'll enjoy my family more while I've been given this opportunity.

What are the Sign on Bonuses going to be if we get busy??
A sign on bonus is great for new drivers and I've seen various companies offering a little something up to as much as 10-K, that money doesn't go into the drivers pocket often times not till 6 to 12 month later. How about the idea of paying for experience, say you have 10-15-20 yrs, clean MVR of course, start those drivers up the scale higher if there is one, maybe 85 to 90%. Of course they are still getting the work of a newbie at the bottom of the company that hired them.
Quality of life is another thing as a driver that many struggle with the balance of what to do. I'm around little bread on the table, I'm not around the table is full of bread. If your single, not married and no kids you better fit the box of being a driver.
