ODFL | CMS concerns

I have not driven one for OD but I have driven Con-job’s and YRC’s so I’m about to speculate a little. If it’s the radar hoo ha in the middle of the front bumper like the other companies try not cleaning it off in winter. Let it get covered with salt and it should not be able to read anything and just not work at all. The downside is the cruise control probably won’t work either while it’s dirty.

We have certain bridges and overpasses where our trucks will brake too - without cruise control ... I don't use cruise control. One particular bridge will set it off 50% of the time. Still happening. Deadline the trucks and get them back with same problem. The system is flawed and a potential safety hazard.

Exactly what I experience. It’s happened 3 times in the past 2 day’s. Once with cruise on and twice with no cruise. Last week I had the Intimate Collision recording go off, stopped the vehicle, on a surface street, while up shifting. No cars, no traffic, no nothing. Piece of junk. Wait till someone wraps it up on ice or snow due to these problems.

I think you meant "imminent collision" and not "intimate...." I spent all of my high school years hoping for an intimate collision!

Is there any recourse for a “headway event recording” message on the Blu?

One of the newer Volvos gave me this message several times throughout the day last week whenever a car would merge onto the highway or change lanes from right to left into my lane.
Wasn’t sure what to make of it.

I finally got to see what you’ve all been talking about. Happened in a freightliner. First reaction was to hit the shoulder, the brakes came on so hard I thought I blew my air line and my trailers would be stuck in the road.

I had no clue these trucks could lock it up that hard on their own. Cruise was “on” but wasn’t set.

My KW CMS malfunctions when ice starts building up on it. When there's lite glaze it starts beeping red that there's something about 25 feet ahead and it has applied the brakes 4 time. Once was really annoying with a trainee driving and in 7th gear pulling a grade. Once the ice becomes thick it sames radar fault and quits working all together which becomes a relief. For Billy and Kenneth, please understand they are fully operational when you're rolling over 15mph and temperatures make no difference. It's all faulty and no one in corporate cares. So we just have to keep on driving. I talked to a UPS driver the other day in a rest area. They have the same issues and no one there in corporate cares either.

Exactly, been to the shop and mentioned this was told there’s nothing we can do. Yesterday my tractor locked up again. Nothing in front, no obstacles, clear and dry.

Cain't wait to read your complaints about your part time job, Billy's installing the same system on all his mowers,
next, Ump will be trying it on a goat.

Hope not, I've had several do that to me. It’s getting to the point that they’re expecting us to be perfect behind the wheel 100% of the time.

$20 says they’ll get canned for wadding it up, whether it was the CMS fault or not.

Just read this thread. I do not work for OD . I work for Pyle. The newer Freightliners in the fleet have the active systems. It will slam the brakes randomly, cruise on or off. I have it react to bridges, overhead sign, roadside signs. Mfg says this is a software problem and a fix will be here late spring. Guess all trucks with this system does it. Did notice when slush builds up the system is blocked and gets disabled. Yup. I have a filthy front bumper and carry snowballs!! Hey, I and not blocking it, the weather is

Mechanics have repeatedly said it won't lock the brakes below freezing temps. Anyone telling you it happened in the snow is a dumb liar just looking for attention like most truckers do.

Todays trucks have what is called ABS Antilock Brake Systems. Cant lock them up. Will it slam them REAL hard? YES. I have it happen so often I dont react anymore. Just keep on riding
