Please Call!

I know. People that charge on, without adequate info, often end like this:

Lenin used people that would do what he wanted to fight his Revolution. Called them Useful Idiots. Once he got his objective, he lined them up and had them shot.....
I think you’re being a little bit dramatic. Use your tiny little brain. Again I’m for a solution to the pension problem not necessarily this one. READ!!!!!! I know you can’t so. Pound sand!!!

I don't see any negativity. Its reality. I'm about to turn 64. I need this saved as much as anyone. I was for the CSPF cuts. I'm for the UPS offer. I talk to My Rep and Senators biweekly. One, I go to his backyard cookout. This deal will NOT attract enough votes to pass

Name calling and saying call without a plan doesn't save the pension...
Those with the power decided the plan you seemed to back would not work, so here we are. And I hear its wrong to ask Joe taxpayer to loan money to help me but you ask those now collecting to help you? Your not at fault but you seem imply that I am. I agree Jimmy we are on opposite ends of this.

I didn’t say it would pass. But giving up isn’t the answer. Pretty sure that’s what I’ve been saying the whole time. Glad you actually do talk to your reps. That’s more than 99% of people that are in these pension funds do.

If some cuts don't happen, it runs out in a very few years. We ALL earned ours. We should ALL get a part of Our Pension. The 45 yr old guy with 25 yrs in on ABF's dock can't draw for 20 more yrs. At that point, he will draw Zero for 45 yrs working under this pension. Thats unfair. Everyone should immediately take cuts so everyone gets something. Thats why, last year i agreed to a 50% cut. Half of something for 20 years is much better than Zero, anyday...

How do you think any of these plans came about? Because everyone was silent? Let that sink in. Maybe you’ll make more sense.
So far, radical Dems have come up with two plans- KOPPA, and This Brown Plan. Both are Government Bailouts that cant have even a smidgen of a chance to pass Congress.

The only way is when the UPS plan was offered, but returees will never approve those 20% cuts. My question then is: if 80% of a check wont work- what happens when it drops to ZERO? I've asked that repeatedly these past several years. No one ever answers....

Giving up trying to beg a Government Bailout is the answer, cause it ain't happening. Telling retirees they'll be fine because they called is irresponsible. It's akin to telling a person locked in a burning building that you're going to save them while you throw on kindling and cook hotdogs....

You want to save the plan? Cut the payouts, and entice UPS or Amazon, or another Pension to merge and bail us out. That's how Central States became Central States, South, and Southwest Fund. I'm surprised Congress hasn't told all Teamster Funds to merge nationwide..... merging CSPF and Western wouldn't be popular at all. But such, combined with a 25% cut for ALL, is about the only way to keep IBT alive in the Pension Business. Without Pensions, no one will sign up anymore...

It's not about me, wolf. I'm almost 64. I expect nothing. I doubt I even consider retiring until at least 72 or later. No way I'm going until there is some kind of plan what the Fund can do. By that time, it's gone. And gone for 200,000 not yet drawing, added to 210,000 already getting full amounts. Math is a constant. It can't be cheated. There simply is not enough.

Well as you probably know, the Butch Lewis Act is not going to be part of the present budget bill. But, make no mistake, had it not been for all the retirees stomping the Halls of Congress this issue would not have gotten the attention it is getting. They've agreed to introduce all this to a special committee made up of Dems and GOP to come up with a solution to this. The time frame is by December 2018

Jimmy ,I know your a huge supporter of the UPS plan. But if you examine it you will see that it requires a big commitment of money from the government ,just like the BLA would require government money. You also state you were a fan of Central States cuts but it was determined ,by the Treasury , that those cuts wouldn't have been enough to keep it going long term.

What are the answers, probably a mix of cuts and government help, sorry I know you can't accept the assistance, but I really don't believe there is any other way around it.

I do appreciate your reasoned response.
I believe the Fund will fail then. There are hundreds of funds in trouble. The job of government is defense, not providing income.

The Government stuck their nose into our pension in the first place, now you want them to walk away with absolutely no accountability. I admit I find that odd. As much as people want to go back to simpler times it is a pipe dream, Government is here to stay and as much a constant as your math. The world you wish for is a little harsh in my opinion.

I'm a Constitutionalist.

Ok I forgive you, and it doesn't make you ALL bad.
All government social programs started with Fabian Socialism, and progressed thru Marxism, to now be entrenched in the USA as the American Dream. Hopefully, I'll never go down that path. Our Declaration and Constitution gave us independence, and the individual responsibility that independence, and liberty brings. I find it wrong to ask the government to stay out of our private lives, but ask for their safety net at the same time....

NOW, you can call me bad.

Side note: retirement isn't mentioned in the Bible. There isn't even a Hebrew word for it. My wish is for our Constitutional Government to follow our Constitutional directives and not be Marx's dream of Government being god....(Decider and Provider)

So when the pbgc steps in to pay the .35 on the dollar, I assume that money would be sent back to the government based on your believes ?

Are you implying that retirement is evil? I know nothing of Marx so if you say he has a dream of what God should be I would think he is wrong. Now the Bible does discuss having Leaders and we pray they make the right decisions and watch them fail continually, so I guess you lost me. We went way off on this so I'll bow out.
