XPO | Wages in your area.

By design ?

A lot of people think so. It has been voiced. Wages and work environment are substandard. All we get is the same old story. Give us time. It will get better. Not much anyone can really say or do to make anything better. But we are still supposed to believe it will happen. And with the sale of the company eminent, do you really think we are the focus of Jacob's worries ? Especially with the numbers he has XPO churning out ?

So, by design ? Absolutely. In my opinion. The success is irrefutable. The path taken to get to that success is undeniable.

Rumor has it a “big” raise is expected

We have heard everything from 70 cents to 7%. I believe none of it until it's coming in weekly.

We heard the Estes drivers got a big bonus this year. They spent it on deer catchers for all the tractors. Drivers didn't seem to think that was a very good bonus.

Still better than the zero bonus I got this year. Which is another thing that really upsets guys. Way to rub it in that our efforts are completely unappreciated and unneeded. They gotta do away with the failed bonus circus. It motivates more laziness and contempt than it does anything else. Particularly in the sense that there is literally zero way for any driver to positively or negatively impact the outcome.

From the sounds of the raises coming out. It’s about to get real tight for drivers around here. All day in the city I got people asking me if I’m looking for a job or if I know someone who is. It takes money to make money.

So has anyone heard any rumors on wage increases yet? How much of a raise do you think it will take to make us competitive?

Where I'm at. Top scale is 26.71/hr. 5% would take us to just a little over $28.00 and I'd be shocked if we got that much. I'm thinking it will be no more than a dollar.

I posted this on a different thread, 9%. Take with a grain of salt as I run night line haul. That will come out to about $2 an hour and 5 cpm. I would be shocked if it it's true.
FedEx has gotten 2.10 in the last 6 months where I'm at, so, if they are actually competing we may get it.

Do you really think we will get anything close to that
In bargaining you should aim high then work towards a reasonable position. Personally , I don't think $3-$4 an hour is enough. I believe it's on the low side.

What I believe XPO Logistics upper management will give is another thing. As of right now it's shameful how no one from upper management will come out and communicate what the plans are as far as a raise or money ( bonus ) from extra profits from the restructuring of the tax code.

It almost seems cowardly how quiet upper management has been on these topics , yet they are easy to find when it's time to brag on 4th quarter and year end results.

Come out and say what the companies intentions are now so if drivers don't like where things are heading they can make a move before things pick back up again.

You don't really mean that right?
Sure I do. Even if it is not what you want to hear ( no raise or a small raise ) communication as far as livelihood matters. Some people will make tough decisions over the next few months.

I don't know where you are Scotch , but a lot of places can't wait to hire right now. What better time to make a move than now? A pay raise and/or bonus may sway someone one way or the other.

Anyone have any details on what happened in South Bend ? Heard a bunch of guys walked out due to low wages . Can anyone confirm or is it gossip ?

I agree with everything you said, but you seem to have missed my point. Tell me, did Con-way give advance notice before they sold us out to XPO? Of course not because they knew that drivers would leave in droves. Why should the company tell us anything of it's future intentions? Honestly, if I were CEO of XPO and was thinking about selling it off or buying a competitor, the last people I'd tell would be my most valuable assets, the drivers.
