XPO | Will it get better ?

Of course all of us talk to our spouses about the company, its policies and its direction. They too know it’s unsustainable as it is directed! Talking with mine after the last round of Bennie cuts and she looks at me and says “It’s time for you to get the hell out”! Makes my light bulb burn brighter! Nuff said!

Mine has already told me to quit as well. It's nothing but conquering my own laziness and having had enough. Extremely empowering when you know she won't cut your junk off for walking out whenever you are finally ready.

If not now when?

It's not going to get better. Con-way is dead. YRC didn't fold up and die like management thought they were supposed to. ( Not that I blame them, who knew the teamsters were such cowards ? They gave up way to much. In my opinion. ) It cost this company everything. That's what happens. When the brass makes mistakes. They are all running other companies now. This one got sold off. And now XPO is taking bids.

And most people believe no one has any use for us. XPO did buy us at a gift of a price. Obviously, we already know what our market value is. And just the LTL ? Because I think we all agree whoever buys XPO will keep Menlo. It's not pretty. We are as discardable to XPO as CFI was to Con-way. Only CFI had a use and a purpose. They got bought up and are still in business. Who will pay for this mess, now ? Just the LTL ? Not a good looking proposition.

Since deregulation, this is the model. Companies get big and then fall. And new companies race in. It's the whole circle of life thing. Go watch The Lion King. Hakuna Matata. All that ::shit::.

Maybe you can carry on about a helpless union drive. Yeah, vote a union so that maybe in 5-10 years from now you can tell everyone what a great experience it was. Because it didn't change the outcome. Didn't change much of anything. But it made you feel better. Okay. That makes no sense. But if that's how you feel in the wake of everything. You're just blind. Which.....

Regardless, tears will be shed. How could they do this ? After all these years, there are still folks that are completely clueless. Talking about how they have to much invested. Bott has pictures all over this company holding a shovel and breaking ground. You want to talk about someone that invested in this, well he's gone. Actually, a lot of the old guard are gone. When do you open your eyes and look at what you refuse to see ? I get it. Denial is a defense mechanism. I understand. But it won't actually stop anything either.

This is another big fault of the union movement. After closer examination, this ain't worth fighting for. Who wants to give up anything more than what has already been taken. Other carriers are offering better wages and better working conditions. Not to mention the jobs outside of LTL. Why at this point, would anyone give any more of their time towards this than the absolute minimum to get by ? Which is the same reason we have all these problems with damages and general laziness. No one cares. And the ones that do care are helpless to do anything about it.

Worser than worst ? Naw, not yet. We still got some room to go. The race to the bottom is on !

So it's been over 2 years since anyone posted on this thread, has it gotten better, worse or the same in 2 years and why do you think that for anyone who wants to answer.

Not being "hands-free" has gotten a lot of otherwise good drivers canned. One I know of got his last (of three, in less than 12 mo period!) violation with a bluetooth device in his ear...he still had the phone in his hand! This guy had the same run every night, knew exactly where all the bumps and potholes were and still got popped, at least twice, in the same exact spot! Sad to see him go, but he can't say they didn't give him plenty of chances. It's just not worth it, go hands-free fellas.

Hope you find something better, soon.

Since XPO bought Con-Way and how far Jacobs has dragged us down the rabbit hole since then, I would be very pessimistic about wondering if it would get better. However, in the past 6 months, I have noticed some subtle and seemingly insignificant changes that are leading me to believe that someone has finally opened their eyes to a few things and things may be starting to turn a corner.

As long as it costs xpo less money it will stay as is

Do you care to explain what you've noticed?

The only thing I've seen that's gotten better is that the training program at XPO University for new hires has been streamlined and supplanted with instructional videos. That's it, nothing else.
You aren’t saying that new hires are getting trained better, are you? I’d have to disagree. I have drivers on the FAC that can’t build a rack correctly after a year. When I show them (in the off chance I find a trailer that has them in working order), they say, “ohh, that’s how it’s done”!
You must have better training where you are. More standardized would be great.

They actually train new hires here:hysterical:
