XPO | Oklahoma truck driver hits 3 million miles on the road

And with no way to even track or follow your progress any more. And with someone like me that has flip flopped between the boards. How do I figure when I am to get credit for a million anyway ? And if I don't know when it happens, is there anyone else that will know ? Or did Jacobs cut those people out a job to increase EBITDA ? Million milers don't increase EBITDA so why track it ? Results matter. Not drivers. Profit, EBITDA, sales. More sales. Who cares if we got more freight than we can move ? This is getting ranty. I'll stop. Congrats to anyone that manages a million let alone 2 or 3. Being able to sleep at night with a clean conscience is a wonderful thing.
I have spoken to drivers that have asked their management for status as far as how close they are to a million miles. Also , can you see it on the employee portal? And finally , with the Electronic Logs tracking ACTUAL miles , should there be the guesstimation still going on? ( So many hours worked in the city equals so many miles )

" IF " the ELD " speaks " to the system that tracks the old ss30. Sure.

If trucking companies track hours and change them into miles ( for the purpose of recognizing milestones in safety ) , companies that have had dockworkers for a lot longer than XPO Logistics/Con-way Freight should have million miles dockworkers , right? Maybe even a new forklift with the name stenciled on the side?

If you have access to a workstation you can still get to the old dispatch system and check your miles/hours towards your next award.

Don't forget about the parking space too.

How would you factor city miles then ? I've done both. City driving is far more dangerous than line haul driving. Way more obstacles and traffic.
So in you theory day time LH should get double the miles they drive, guys pulling triples should get triple the miles they drive, and drivers in heavy metro areas should get 4 time the miles they drive. Were does it stop
I believe anyone that is given a million mile award should have driven those miles, not been on city P&D on the time clock. I have all due respect for those drivers that have actuality driven those miles

No, most of your examples are pretty stupid and lame. Day LH and night LH are on equal ground. Daytime has sunshine and nighttime less traffic. But really. It's the same job. With the same risk exposure on an average day.

City is more difficult and has more dangers. But you do travel less distance on average. Some of our peddle routes run near 300 miles. Not everyone in the city drives around the block. But for most. It's less wheel time. Does that mean blind siding into an ally off a 4 lane street is easy ? Or that it should be discounted or disrespected ? Hourly milestones of accident free city work are certainly valid. And it does take longer to reach them then it takes to reach the mileage milestones. So it seems to be fairly accredited.

Pulling triples definitely deserves extra credit. Yes, sir. Absolutely. Give them double miles. The extra drops and hooks. The extra danger on the road. Yep. Give them double.

Well I guess we have to agree to disagree on this subject.

So where would you set the mark in the city? I don't know how many actual miles I have, but I'm pretty sure I'll retire before I get anywhere near a million. When should I get a plaque?

So then it should be a hourly or yearly award not a mileage award. I always had the biggest respect for any driver making 1 million or more miles accident free. This company has insulted all those drivers out there that have DRIVEN 1 million + miles safely by handing out unearned awards just because someone was on the time clock in city driving. I have no problem with yearly or hour awards for city drivers. I never knew this company did it this way until one at my barn reached a milestone and then I ask how.
I think XPO should put an * asterisk after Million mile on the back of the coats and in fine print put, all miles my have not be driven.

I will say if this company want to give me a million mile award and I have not driven those miles I will not accept the award until they can prove I driven all those miles.

I've see million mile awards on SWIFT trucks. You sure you respect all million milers ?

Really, you are arguing semantics. You don't like the way it's worded. And the important part here is that the individual has properly lied and denied their way to an impressive milestone.

I guess we should go and recalculate all the paid miles too. Because a lot of these runs aren't accurate. And some of the routed paths are just that, the way you were supposed to go. No one goes that way any more because of construction or they added a bunch of lights or the new road is finished, etc. If we are gonna be stupid anal about everything ?

Rather than worry about a million miles I just hit something every other year or so. Makes it easier. True story.

I asked how we find out where we are now, and the response was kinda, you'll know when you get an award. But I, like you, have zero chance of receiving this award.

Be careful about that I know a couple drivers that worked out of Xtj that were terminated for bypassing construction.. just saying. Oh but I forgot it had nothing to do with their union support.

Different places have different rules. Around here, so long as you write it in, you are good. Especially, if it doesn't offend your ETA.
