XPO | Oklahoma truck driver hits 3 million miles on the road

1 year driving city p&d in Metro Philadelphia is equal to a million miles.
I can’t understand for the life of me how more of these fly over area guys don’t at least get a million miles.
No offense but we’d get fired here for that lunch.

Why fired for taking a lunch ? They make us take it. Starting at 08:00 means if he took a proper lunch it would be between 12:00 and 14:00. Not ideal. I do just as he did. Stretch it to the last minute and then shut down. And while the dispatchers appreciate it. It's not actually changing much of anything for anybody.

A typical P&D day? What does a linehaul log look like?

Looks like an hour lunch.

When the person showing that log returns to the terminal and punches his lunch into Kronos his 1/2 hour lunch it will not match his log lunch time and show a violation.

With as much as there is to worry about that takes priority , I seriously doubt that management is concerned over a long lunch. Especially one they may have caused by giving out the assignment a little late.

I've see million mile awards on SWIFT trucks. You sure you respect all million milers ?

Really, you are arguing semantics. You don't like the way it's worded. And the important part here is that the individual has properly lied and denied their way to an impressive milestone.

I guess we should go and recalculate all the paid miles too. Because a lot of these runs aren't accurate. And some of the routed paths are just that, the way you were supposed to go. No one goes that way any more because of construction or they added a bunch of lights or the new road is finished, etc. If we are gonna be stupid anal about everything ?
What does the name on the door have to do with it. Yes swift has some bad drivers and so do we. Hell we had a LH driver leave a FAC drop his rear trailer on the road, about 500ft pasted the yard entrance, then pull over because he ripped the airlines, you could see the drag marks from the dolly tires. Then unhook the airlines from the lead trailer push in the brake release button and the continue on his way back to his home barn leaving the dropped trailer in the road. When the FAC call him he was 50 miles down the road.
Here's another one. A LH driver was dropping his lead on the line. When he went to crack the legs down he took out his dick and took a **** right there. The best part was this dumb ass did not notice that his driver side lading leg was not going down. He put his junk back in his pants pulled the fifth wheel got in the truck and pulled out. He said the leg was down and just ran up. When the shop look at the leg they found the leg work perfectly and that the bolt on the cross rod fell out.
Go ahead and pick on Swift, JB and any other carrier but we have our own set of Swift drivers here too. How many trailers got dropped last year?

In the case of this driver , he didn't move ( or go back on duty ) until he was given his next assignment by dispatch.
We were told our logs must match the time clock punch within 5 mins. So when he gets back and enter his lunch time in the Kronos clock he will have a log voliation. We would also be asked why we took an hour lunch and our pay hours would be adjusted

It can be call stealing time which is no different the going on the dock and walking out with that 60" Samsung TV. Both will get you fired

I punch back in on duty and sit and wait if thats the case . It will show you duty and not moved . If dispatch can't give you an assignment thats their problem.

This is what I would have done. Even if not moving, I would have gone back to the on duty line after lunch. I see it now.

On line haul you are on mileage pay. Pull over for a nap and go off duty until you wake up. In the city you are on the clock. After lunch is over if you are still showing off duty it could be perceived as a log violation.

Not that they are going to fire any body. People keep quitting. And they aren't being replaced. So, it's really just what ever.

Look at our wages and benefits. You get what you pay for.

We were told during EOBR training that we are not to punch lunch into Kronos. It's a waste of time. The EOBR records the lunch and we also click the lunch on the handheld, gets you a timer and an alarm to signal the end of lunch. So it's getting double recorded already. On top of DOT don't require city drivers to take a lunch anyway. Anyone inside 100 air miles. This lunch is done at the insistence of XPO.

That's only partly true. You must be within the time, 100 radius, and recordkeeping. If at any time to go beyond the time of 12hrs, or 100 miles you no long fall under the “short haul operations” exceptions outlined in 49 CFR 395.1(e)(1) or (2) you must then take a lunch.
The company automatically take 30mins once you reach 6hrs of work so why wouldn't you take it.

Not saying don't take a lunch. Just that it sucks having to take a lunch at or before 8 hours. But again, it's XPO's rule. So, I take it every day. And if I miss deliveries or picks as a result. Oh well, not my idea.

Remember it's their sand box and when in their sand box we must follow the rules
