Glad to hear driver was ok.Here is a couple more pictures I found.

Saw the pictures on FB.Looks like maybe hit the K-rail and skateboarded on top of it? The the trailers hit the overpass and get "caught"? Something like that happened coming down Donner a few years ago.
 
Thank God he’s alive, definitely could have been worse. That makes 3 really bad accidents in a pretty short time. Nature of the business includes nights, and is part of earning your due. But, seems that should be optional maybe pay a little extra if the person wants to work nights. It does the body no health favors and eventually you’re a zombie behind the wheel.
 
If you get particularly drowsy during one of your nightly line haul runs, what is the repercussion if you pull over for a 30 minute nap? Do linehaul drivers take naps or are they expected to push through with their runs or face disciplinary action?

I normally will take what I call a preventative nap on my lunch, and what I mean by that is tired or not I try to fall asleep for 25 minutes. If for some reason I could not take a nap then I get drowsy while I'm driving I will pull over and take one no questions asked. They have never said anything to me it's better to get the freight there then them having to come get it out of the ditch and possibly have life lost.

If a company I work for ever has a problem with that I will gladly turn over the keys
 
Another side note to that is making sure that you get proper rest and eat right before and during your shift, I can normally do my full day without getting tired but sometimes this just can't be helped

Better safer than sorry, so put the phone on do not disturb and take a nap if needed. However it’s getting harder to work a night shift and not get a call asking eta because the truck is shared or they want your incoming trailers to roll right back out. If you have to stop at another terminal on your way in to drop or pickup a trailer, then your nap time may have just been wasted doing that. Especially if you’re trying to beat a curfew coming back in the morning. If you’re in a house with a quiet room and everyone else doesn’t make noise then you can get proper rest before your shift. Swing shifts/apartment living/kids/everyone else doing activities during the day typically means you won’t get the same quality of sleep compared to sleeping at night.
