You must can’t read memo nor read what your contractual agreement is. You find out who your true union members are when you get in their wallet.
You said you were from SP, you have a former cheesehead that is very into the NRA down there he lives north of town up towards the turn off for the airport off of 25, if you want to know about me ask him. If he is not sure by my name on here tell him we just had breakfast in Indy about a month ago together. At one time we actually worked out of MI together. Be very careful judging someone by a couple posts on a internet site that can be a very dangerous habit. I get to SP but not too often, I will try and ask around for you when I get there, maybe we can get to know each other and you can get a better understanding of where I come from and who I am. Remember, You don't know me! If you want to get into a pissing match....not today! In a couple hours I am going to head over to the hospital to see my mother who is 94 and was rushed by ambulance to the hospital and almost died from an infection in her system yesterday morning. She has very advanced cancer and will be going to be with my dad very soon. It kind of puts into perspective how unimportant dropping a trailer on the weekend really is. Have a Good Day Brother!

I will be sure to ask about you ask about hope all is well in personal life. Next time you in SP ask about me well known and would be glad to meet you so you can learn a couple contractual knowledge coming from a road steward. It’s the principle of protecting your work. We used to not do our switches at all now we have to in certain areas soon or later we will be doing everything cause guys see it as a simple drop. Gotta get the big picture.

Do y’all have confidence that IBT leadership will look out for its members best interest or do feel more strongly that they will protect the company from cutting off a revenue stream (closing the doors thereby losing money to could be going into Cspf and or losing some of the protection money the company gives them personally)?

I should let the whole topic go and walk away but I can not. Maybe the piece of ::shit:: Teamsters should start enforcing some of the rules that protect the drivers. I am guessing that guys like the steward from SP are on a bid and don't have to deal with getting ****ed every night of every week.
Get the Union to start enforcing first in first out, get them to enforce first in longest out, get them to enforce home loads that are hid behind the window, why do you think they pay a guy to sit behind the window in Rockford all night so you can't see what loads are in the box. Why don't the ****'n Teamsters and their stewards teach the new guys about notching senior drivers and doing pretrips instead of running out of the drivers room and putting tractor in gear without even checking if the back door is closed. Teamsters and most of their stewards are a ****'n joke and don't do crap for the drivers! So **** your dropping trailers on the weekend....stick it up your ass bitch!

That’s what the sign in sign out sheets are for. Are last local level we had a total of 72 monetary grievances plenty of home load violations runaround that first in first out thing your talking about Myself and other stewards take new hires out to dinner and sit explain to them our work rules and contract. Still takes time for them fully get it but they are steady filing now. Company labor rep hates coming here. I’m sorry your anger has you feeling that way. You are the Union how about you try and make a difference at your barn. Seems like you don’t really care yourself sad. IMO Holland only having 3 classified shops if I’m right is the reason why a lot of city drivers don’t protect their work. You don’t have to be an official to help change the culture.

All of us teamsters should be showing new guys the ropes, and trust me I was a steward for 8 years,us,the rank and file create most of our own problems the company just takes advantage of that,so to blame a steward is wrong, every teamster needs to look in the mirror and ask are they doing the right thing,we love pointing out what everyone else is doing or not doing, bit your last statement just shows the lack of unity, hence the problems we have today,.we should be working together for solutions,

at our barn its first in last out, which works great for the dock crew. it works both ways as well, if i feel as though i have hours theres usually a bulk pickup or delivery that can be done and i can go out into the city and do that rather than dock work. works great.

He wants the Teamsters to fix his problems then he just reap the benefits. He must doesn’t realize that monetary grievances force the company to change their ways you have to hit them in their pockets.

I don’t think you understood my remark in regards to 15% comment

I don’t agree with a guy opting out of central states. We have to keep paying in for the ones who are retired and the ones who is approaching retirement. We stick together on this not just think about yourself. Not what a Union is about.
Thank you your comments. But that is exactly why I want out off pension fund. You just admitted the pension fund is a ponzi scheme. Ponzi schemes always fall apart. Those that are retired or close have paid into the fund for years. Shouldn't need my contributions unless of course it's a Ponzi. I don't want to screw anyone else over, but don't want to be left with no retirement myself.

I agree the union can't even think about trying to get new members, come work with us and you might get something in 30 years.

I think a lot of people forget also, that the US Government, had a big hand in the pension losing money when they took control of it in the late 80’s,from the teamsters, and gave it to some Wall Street clowns who made some very poor investment decisions with it. Not saying it is the full cause, but it certainly did not help. Myself? I think I would feel better now if organized crime still controlled it..

You sure read a lot into guys post. Let me re explain myself in maybe something you can understand.
If you are out driving and stop at a restaurant and there is a sign on door that says, "we have had some issues with health department violations and are currently trying to fix them, but you are welcome to come in and sit down and enjoy a good meal"

My point in post was Union does not have a very good advertising platform for new recruits.
