Yellow | Lack of warm body "Itus" strikes again

Just curious as to what you are referring to.
Half of our terminal is on disciplinary progression.
We are supposed to be under the Western conference rules according to the mou.
It seems we can't get clarification as to what those rules are
One day, BA came in and said ‘they’ were successful in eliminating progression and new hires were full scale as of hire day date.

That was good enough for me.

Contact JC 42 for clarification.

I am in Local 542.

It dawned on me after I left the restaurant that was what you were talking about.
I knew it went on at some barns and they didn’t take it as well as you.

It’s a net positive. There’s no issue of ‘taking it well.’ There is no conundrum for one who is pragmatic.
IMHO, any time there is a gain for any of our brothers it is a gain for all of us. It's a shame that some are too narrow minded to see that.

Great attitudes,Elwood understands the reasoning ,necessity ,and future benefits and Triplex, selflessly is happy that those with the least seniority are benefiting .

We had grown men throwing a tantrum, work stoppage, intentionally hurting the company and many of them quit their jobs for starting new hires at top pay.

It shows a sharp contrast on how people think and the kind of rationale we will be dealing with come contract time.

Let me add one more, the goal of the union should be to provide "the greatest good, to the greatest number".

I know Wong will be on my case Big Time, but here goes,I started in 1955 making the same money as 20 yr. veterans.
Today is no different, do the same job, you should be entitled to the same pay.

Companies know just because someone has seniority that it doesn't mean he is a great union man. They are no more or less greedy and willing to sell the next generation down the tubes than the new guys getting hired.

UPS freight has a terrible and ridiculous progression. Ive heard but am not certain that they have a wage tier, meaning new hires can never make what they do.
UAW did the same thing,.give us ours and you can screw our children and grandchildren.
I will tell anyone to their face that is chicken Shi t , anti union ,greed.

When I started, we had a seniority board, I knew and accepted this, it made a big difference in yearly pay.
We also had some good ole boys, friend of the boss and inlaws, they always ran the higher paying layovers, never a
short turn, they drove diesels, we drove ragged azz, worn out old gas burners.
This changed in1957, when we went union.
With their problems and complaints, Ryder was still (Best In The Long Run) you couldn't have worked for a better company.

I think UPS Freight starts at 1% of scale. Full-scale in your 100th year (sarcasm intended). Truthfully, I think it’s currently a 4-year progression. A good friend of mine works there, and he just hit scale in December 2017 after 4 years there. I’ve heard they wanna address this issue in the new contract...having trouble hiring drivers at the ‘bargain wage’ (for the company). Imagine that!

UPS has a crap progression through and through. Feeders at Parcel, if you can get to be one at all, don't start with attractive rates. Top rate is excellent, but requires I believe 5 years before you get there.

I'm not sure how the union let's UPS act like they're the Marine Corps. I've heard some horror stories.

It's all to make the almighty dollar off their backs.

1st off , they will never ever close the doors and 2nd is YRCW has MONEY just look at all the free stock awards & Bonuses and management at FULL Pay , no -15% for Welch or Hawkins !
1st off why would anybody want to work for YRC? I worked for roadway for 31 years and it was bad at the end,so why won’t lemme anybody in their right work for them when there is a ton of opportunity out in the industry, and put up with those idiots from the hall. Which by the way sell you down the river first chance they get.

as the company and union see it, everyone starting at top rate is a YES VOTE!

"Wong, I really hope you are right about the door closing, I can recall 30 or 35 yrs ago, saying, PIE, C F, Roadway,Yellow, Mclean and Carolina would always be around, boy did I miss that."
