Interesting info.. linehaul now being told we are to tell DOT we have automatic onboard recording devices and not eld's. ELD is much more detailed and FIXED into units unlike AOBRD...

Hmm... So YRC has spent all this money on devices and cradles etc all to get in on a 'grandfathered' loophole in ELD mandate. And actual ELDs are reqd end of 2019.. as in AOBRD not allowed as substitute to ELD beyond 2019.. Has YRC just put a bandaid on a gun shot wound and know the place will not be around beyond 2019??

Thoughts?? Another waste of hard earned 15%??

It could be because the fleet is so old there won't be many current vehicles left in inventory by 2019. I honestly don't think the doors being open or shut in 2019 has or had any influence on the devices they choose to buy. My guess is they got a deal on these :biggrin new:

We have been told we were using AOBRD devices since their first use late last year and have been issued copies of letters stipulating that to show to any roadside officials. As far as I can tell, the devices seem to already have most all the functionality required by ELD devices. In any event, I believe it's only a software upgrade for them to be totally ELD compliant. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Have no idea where you work but I've been regularly driving newer and newer road tractors all the time. Newer Pete's, KW's and Volvo's are regularly coming into the fleet. Just saying.

Yeah, they are coming in all the time but wouldn't you agree the majority of the fleet is still old? I would imagine by 2019 we will have all white tractors by by then.

The reason we have hand held is so we don't have to install printer in truck.

"Drivers that are using an AOBRD never need to print logs as long as the device meets the requirements found in §395.15."

"Drivers that are using ELDs may need to print their logs if the driver cannot provide the logs to a roadside inspector via one of the transfer methods and the device does not have a display the officer can view outside of the vehicle. As long as the ELD device has a display that can be "brought to the officer," printing is not required."

Read between the lines here, It expires in 2019 , same as our contract ?? :heykoolaid: and p.s. don't like this new format page !

Thank you for the clarification, "Encyclopedia Triplex"! You are a gentleman AND scholar. :1036316054:

Soooooo a shuttle guy with more whiskers than any of the cry baby Prima Donna roadmen should drive the junk? Is that what you are getting at???

Article 44, Section 1, Seniority Principle: NJ/NY Supplemental Agreement
"Seniority shall prevail in that the Employer recognizes the general principle that senior employees shall have preference to choose their shifts and to work at the job for which the pay is highest, provided the employee is qualified for such work. Seniority does not give the employee the right to choose a specific unit, run, trip or load."

Read it and weep cry baby Prima Donna shuttle guy! :bananapartyhat:

Don’t you realize, that at YRC,shuttle drivers take presidence over all drivers, regardless of seniority.....Without them, nothing works.. Just ask them.....

My company has faced that often. You quoted it accurately, but try explaining that to an angry cop...
