FedEx Freight | Question for Trophy Truck Recipients

I would rather get a bonus instead of a truck. The new trucks have to many buzzers and go to slow. Let me keep my old KW I got and just give me a bonus for 25 years of safety.
Agreed. We used to have the opportunity to pick which truck manufacturer we wanted, then they’d provide us with a list of options per truck and we’d get to choose a limited number of options from that list....now we get whatever truck they give us and our only option is whether or not we want our name(s) on the door

If your here for 25 or 30 years, u should probably have your head examined if u haven’t retired after that point. Take time to enjoy life because at that point your odds of waking up the next day are reduced exponentially. Take your retirement and go home...never understood why the old guys find it so hard to walk away.

Same here. People snatch then up if they're available, even if there is other equipment available. Kind of disrespectful imo.
The policy is they can use it if no other is available. A truck of last resort.

Yeah, people are going to try, and often will get away with using it unnecessarily. Leadership has a responsibility to "manage" this. New people in dispatch need to be educated on the policy. Until they know, they will continue the practice.

My experience has been, once they know, they "try" to avoid using it. Occasionally they screw up, or someone slips out in it. Worse case was sending it out as a "spare", due to a breakdown. These are definitely NOT spares. It went to another center , not returning till the following night. Opps Manager apologized (proactively), said it won't happen again.

I don't make that big a deal over it, as long as it's kept clean, fueled, and most importantly, there when I need it. The little things CAN be irritating, like why do some drivers get the airlines, pigtail, and gladhands, covered in grease?

Bottom line: Use the chain of command, to "encourage" leadership to respect the intent of the policy. It's not a complicated, confusing, or unreasonable policy.

What if it took you 30 years to get your 25 year safe driving award, does that mean you get $30K...tax free?? :1036316054:
No but after the first 25 year bonus you get a 1000 every year after. Man You dont get a 30 year award truck. You look to deep into my post

I think you misunderstood my question...and the humor....and yes, you do get another truck at 30 years, provided you remained accident free for the previous 5 years. Same for 35 and 40 years should someone choose to stay that long

I agree but I also agree with RC, at the larger centers where there’s more signature trucks in use, dispatchers seem to have a harder time remembering what truck numbers are what while other dispatchers don’t care...what you drive isn’t as important as making your gate!!

Agreed, but for someone like myself who started here at age 23, I “could” work til I’m 65 and have 42 years of service...not that I’m going to, just sayin’
