The other day I stopped at a gas station between stops to use the restroom, a few days later I was questioned by my terminal manager about my 12 minute stop. He only asked if I stopped there nothing else I said yes, my steward told me a letter is in the way for what I don't know yet. I'll let ya know when I get it. I guess bathroom breaks are not aloud at ABF Any else having these kind of problems?

We've had some questioning but no letters yet. Dashcam is coming no stopping that! But I think if your out of the tractor 12-15 mins they're gonna want you to turn on your "Poop" Cam! Go ahead laugh... it's coming.. wait till them Beancounters see me heading for a restroom with a Hustler under my arm?:censored: More ARCBEST bull sheet to attract good drivers?. Do they ever ask these "Team" guys their opinion on these type of "rules" Some of them must have some common sense! Corporate rule of success #1 in a large company "Don't create the rules that are for the worst offenders" Inadvertently you penalize your good workers without justification and will soon lose some of them as your "Good Workers" In the Military for a long time ( A few left) there was always Warrant Officers to address these types of "problems " and they did a great job! ARCB could use a few Warrant Officers while implementing these new rules and work regulations.... I think.

Not exactly the same problem, but I got questioned about being at a customer too long. So now if I must use the facilities I call dispatch and say I need to be put on authorized delay at the customer. She says ok. Then asked me why. I told her it was because I have to poop. Then to my surprise she asked if I would be there long. I said no it is going to come right out! LOL

Excuse me driver we'll need you to confirm this ..if you could just bring your camera/cellphone to your deposit of choice a few Fruitcakes in Arkansas would appreciate it!.... Thank-you for your cooperation:hopelessness:

Your Tm sounds like a moron, the letter will never stand....If that’s the game he wants to play call him every time you have to stop & when your done, at a stop for more than 10 minutes call in this will end soon....In the last 5 years ABF has a real problem hiring competent management....

The problem started with electronic logs that are accurate to the....second.
If you guys remember correctly,.....when paper logs were used, the smallest time increment was 7.5 minutes.....half of a 15 minute loggable line in the book.
There was no question if you stopped for ......less than 15 minutes, as long as you made it official and drew a straight line down from the log.

In my Opinion,....this is a Maintenance of Standards issue,....and a Past Practice issue.......
The company never asked to negotiate log notations when they switched to electronic logs.....They just....did it.

Prior to electronic logs,....you stopped for a bathroom/safety break,.....hopped out, fixed whatever needed fixing,...drained whatever needed draining,.....and went on your ( comfortable..) merry way. The company NEVER disciplined you for that,....never asked, as long as it was LESS than a loggable increment.

Now,....they can micro-manage (harass...) you to the second. And,....as I was told by a company official at a grievance hearing: "There is no quantifiable level for theft. Theft is Theft..."

The Union let electronic logs kind of "float" past them,.....probably...naively.. not thinking that companies would be so petty as to ....document and harass,....their employees for literally a minute or two.

We know better now, don't we?

Anyone that gets a warning letter for this should re-but it by saying this issue is "past practice",...because they DID NOT have the ability to micro-manage your time PRIOR to the institution of electronic logs,......and NO ONE from the company OR the IBT has negotiated any sort of changes to disciplinary rules BASED on electronic logging.

Frankly,.......I'd like to see Office People Facing Cameras..........We can watch the coffee-swilling, magazine-reading, nose-picking, feet-propping, paperclip-stealing, unauthorized website-viewing in real time......

Maybe even capture a few deliberate discriminatory acts against drivers,...........even though Official Company Policy says these Things Do Not Happen.........

We can compare these videos to the Driver-Facing ones,......and have a Competition as to who actually steals more company time.

Don't include any CEO-Facing camera videos,......They'd win every time.....Hands down..........Wouldn't be Fair.........

Unacceptable behavior from your stupivisor. Arcbest & the IBT have made it clear the company doesn't have a pot to **** in. I applaud you sir for utilizing public facilities. And I'm not even a stockholder.

They just installed cameras. Better cameras. And they are clear as a bell. At our terminal. They did put one in the office. And one in the breakroom. Along with the ones on the dock. And as for the one in the office. It records conversations. Or at least they can hear and whoever is on the other end watching can speak through the camera somehow and communicate to whoever is there. I've witnessed that.
Now. As for the dock cameras. I'm sure they can record voice too. Not sure.
This is not at a abf terminal. Yrc.
So stealing time is recorded every day. We wait for hours on paperwork to unload trailers. Right in front of the cameras and supervision. Just waiting on them. So. Not stealing time if they can't get us work to do.
But. They still have not fixed the entrance gate so anyone can go in and out. Lol.
Priorities. Gate has been left open for close to a year.
Again. Not trolling. Just a tad of info to what's happening on the flip side.

Worked at FedEx Freight now for three years. I've never experienced ANYTHING like you guys are being put through.

Believe me or not, doesn't bother me. But after reading this, the grass is DEFINITELY not greener.

There was saying when I was in school that "your first choice was your best choice." The older I get the more I find simple saying like that to be true. Brother dsh, don't come to work for ABF unless you can come up with an extremely good reason. Something like 'I screwed up so bad no one will hire me.'

This don't happen at most places, but every now & then you get someone in supervision that want to show his power. All you have to do is file a grievance (this offence is a homerun for the driver) a copy gets sent to the union then abf's labor man, then he informs the TM this cant be won & don't waste my time with this again....

Tell them you’re taking letter to dot because you needed to stop for health reasons and you’re being harassed!!!

Get that letter yet? I'm really interested in what it says.

Not the DOT. Try a complaint with the EEOC in your town. Quicker & more effective. And before you file on them have lots of evidence to support your claim. Recordings, paperwork, statements from fellow workers. 9 times out of 10 you see your BA. If you even think he might blow you off or not care for a 'little problem' like yours, go file with EEOC. If you believe only 1 thing, believe all companies DO NOT want government agency's crawling thru their paperwork. Lots of times they find violations that have no bearing on your case. No over site means they can't see the other violations. Something minor like this gets solved with a letter or phone calls. It will paint a target on your back, but in the future, they will tread carefully around you. Record, copy, take notes. Build a collection of evidence to support your defense. Think it of this way. If you go in to a meeting with management with a witness & pen & a note book, forcing them to slow down the conversation so you can write down everything said, they will be very careful in what & how they speak to you. The more time it takes you to write your notes, the more time you waist, theirs & yours. And they don't like it. It effects their bonus. von.
