SAIA | 68 mph is absolutely lovely!!

Pssst, I asked Dracula, he’s the one that is afraid to be behind us because we drive ‘too hard.’ However, I’m glad you proved my point, no reason anyone should worry about our abilities to manage a perfectly easy run.
lol how hard can you drive going 68 oh I forgot to mention I have 3 lytx videos all of them for 3-4 second following distance

I've been back and forth between 65/68 trucks. I like the 68 trucks, they seem to run happier as I don't find truck lugging up hills in 12th at 58ish. The 65 trucks required a downshift to 11, don't even let it get caught in 10th. Game over. I'm speaking about the freightliners, haven't been in a 68 volvo yet. Do they even exist? We have a shop at the yard, but even now all the 68s are from the recent delivery.

I save about 15 minutes on the inbound leg if things are good, but my outbound leg has remained at the same time for 65 due to construction delay.

Some nights I end up running 67 if I catch an Estes as they really make me work to pass...

Had an OD driver reel me in last night, looks like they're getting turned up to 70.

Drive safe.

Out of curiosity, what kind of safety record do you have?
Sorry to be gone so long but chirping at each other just got old. You asked about my safety record. I've been linehaul since the first day I started with the company. That was 21 years ago. multi decade, multi million safe driver. No preventable accidents, on the road or on the dock.

He’s too busy tooting his own horn. Don’t worry ”DRAC” you’re reputation precedes you. He’s got 22 years safe driving and that has you by 1 year. But he’s retired so you can catch him. No worry’s! Not that you really give a ****.

Going out, it looks like it took you 4 3/4 hours and coming back roughly the same. You ran 596 miles divided by 2 equals 298 each way and divide that by 4 3/4 equals almost 63 MPH. You can't argue with the screen, it is what it is.That must have been one perfect day. No traffic, no bad weather, no construction and no anything else that might cause you to have to ease up a little. Unless, you are saying that your foot wasn't in it for the entire time of 4 3/4 hours. The simple math is you couldn't even lose 15 minutes and still make either half of that 596 miles in 4 3/4 hours.

Then you go to the other screen and there is the devil in the details. Hard brakes 0, fast acceleration 0, speeding 33/77.7 mph.
Am I reading this right? In a one day work cycle, you had 33 different occurrences of hitting up to 78 miles per hour? I believe you have posted, that your run is rolling hills or genuine mountainous terrain or both. Is that how you get those multiple almost 80 mph recordings? Is that where you are saving your time by rolling those hills at almost 80 mph?

Don't get me wrong, you're sitting in the seat and if that is what you want to do, more power to you. That's just not my style. Phil Williams, Pssst, I asked Dracula, he’s the one that is afraid to be behind us because we drive ‘too hard.’ However, I’m glad you proved my point, no reason anyone should worry about our abilities to manage a perfectly easy run. You're right Phil, damn straight, I would be afraid to be behind you. You're pulling heavy loaded pups, maybe even overweight pups, clocking multiple miles at up to almost 80 mph, and you describe that as only "hard driving". The run is finished with 9.37 hours of drive time. Why push so hard when you could burn some of that excess drive time and not record so much "hard driving" time? But, if that is what you want to do and your record shows that you're good at it, then have at it. Good luck.

Looks like a gotcha moment!

Dracula the 33 counts isn’t the number of times he hit 78 mph but the number of times he hit 70+. 77.4mph is the maximum speed he hit. FYI

Man implied I was unsafe. I just showed him the proof sport.
Catch me? Didn’t know it was a race. Hell, I reckon any kind of motivation is good motivation, glad I can be of service.

You are correct my run consists of 596 miles all but 2 miles are on I-81 pretty much all the way across Virginia. I do have a lot of hills and mountains and why not take advantage of the gravity lol I just set the cruise and go 95% of the trip is 70mph speed limit so the overspeeds are not an issue. I do stop once on the way up and once on the way down for 10-15 minutes each time that’s all I need I usually have to wait on my meet man 30min to an hour during this time I walk around or just take a nap

I can post more pictures of my log if you want but I assure you they are carbon copies of the ones I posted before it’s the same every day. Sometimes I do get in traffic and lose time but that’s just part of truckin

Lord, I would kill to have the scenery changing from one mile to the next. The highest point, on my run, is the old bridge, that was built to allow the US Navy dirigible tenders to pass under. Other than that, the run is as flat as my brain wave.

A 10 or 15 min. stop? I can see you don't take time to stop and smell the roses, hope your legs and butt hold
up in your old age.

Good grief how long do you need to stop lol we do have run times to meet ya know especially when I meet drivers on both ends of my run. As for holding up when I get old I walk 3-4 miles almost every evening and ride a bicycle as much as Possible in the spring and summer and when weather permits in the winter I learned that the hard way I worked city for 6 years when I went to Linehaul I got fat as a hog and I’m still working to get rid of it. When I come to work I come to do my job I don’t come to waste time and sit in the truck stop

I think I just made my job more pleasurable, when I ran daytime, I knew every farmer and their families
between Charl and Jax, drove most of their tractors and equipment.
I seldom made my 391 mi trip less than 10 hrs.
You probably think I stopped and smelled too many roses.

If you have ever driven on I-81 through Virginia you know you don’t get in no hurry. The traffic is horrible worse on my way back than on the way up. It’s not about going fast it’s about staying constant. The longer you stop the more chance you have of getting caught behind a wreck

I ran US11 to Hagerstown and Fredrick Md, before I-81 was open.
Even after the interstate was open, on the holidays, traffic was nothing compared to what you guys enjoy.
No, I don't envy you one bit, our company was very lenient and I liked to socialize.
BTW, we had a mininum running time, you could kill a lot of time and still goof off.
