Could someone explain how you get turned down for it when you have a legitimate reason to be on it. Also for the folks that haven't been on it or have a long time ago, now when you start short term disability, you have to clean out your vacation and personal time before you will get paid. So if your only going to be off for a month and you have that much saved in vac and personal time no need to sign up for short term disability.

Why u up your vac? U get paid after 5 days off! They pay 7days a week so your first check might be short but will catch up depending on when u went out! Save your vac and u owe 70 a month after gettubg back to work each pay ti get insurance caught up but life insurance come all out of first check when u get back to work!

You don't have to use any time if you don't want to. The first 5 days is what you would want to use time for since it doesn't start till your 2nd week. I've Never head of any one getting turned down.

I've been on std 3 times for a total of 8 months since 3-17 the first check showed up each time on Friday one week after my fdx check. no gap in income. I have no complaints about Aetna!

I don't know from what I've seen it is a joke. We just had a guy off 7 weeks didn't get check till the 5th week. Now today just heard one of our guys who has been off for a while got turned down. We took up a collection for him and his family today.

If their is no objective finding you will not be approved for short term! Something has to be diagnosed with different types of test, like a MRI, XRAYS and blood tests. Doctors must have proof that he has found a objective finding. It's a joke to deal with anymore.

I won't get into too much detail for obvious reasons but that was not the reason he was turned down.

The benefit:

"Full-time employees are eligible on the first of the month following the completion of 180 days of continuous full-time employment. An eligible employee must apply for STD within 31 days of illness or injury. The benefit maximum period under STD is up to 26 weeks or the commencement of long-term disability benefits. Employees must continue to meet all disability requirements and provide updated medical information to both the benefit administrator and FXF while on disability. To file a claim for STD, employees can contact Aetna at 1.800.XXX.XXXX or online..."

Per the Choose Well Hub:

"The Short-term Disability (STD) program, administered by Aetna, provides you with income protection during a temporary, non-occupational illness or injury for up to 26 weeks. You are automatically enrolled in STD coverage once you meet the eligibility requirements. ― at no cost to you.

You may [be] eligible for Short-term Disability (STD) benefits if you are injured or ill and cannot work for more than seven consecutive calendar days.

Aetna is pain in the back side. Even though I had all the documentation to be out, it wasn't till I was going to have surgery (rotator cuff) that they finally approved me for short term.
