Driver Room replete with rumors of "substantial" pay raise this time around. Any body hear anything? Bribe to stick around after cameras installed?

Hourly pay in some areas is at the top for 40 hours. They really need to work on LH and dock pay where we are at the bottom. Even Central Transport pays better for LH. Have to take in consideration our insurance has increased, trucks turned down, waiting for loads has gotten out of hand, nothing for fueling and mandatory 30 min breaks all of it adds up. Dock pay, let's just say we train people for other companies.

Amen driver! L/H has been the red-headed step child for too long! I've been L/H for over 15 here and its long over due.

Well, I guess that depends on what linehaul your on. Our day time LH drivers are paid very well. The short night runs are pathetic.

Yes, longer runs pay more, but the formula for your pay on that run is the same. Day or night. And in comparison is on the short side of the stick. I have no complaints where I sit, due to my seniority. But had to put up with a truck load of crap, that most others quit shortly after being hired. I just saw light at the end of the tunnel if I just showed up and did everything I was told to do. Some people go to work and dont liked to be bossed around. Now I have a top of the line L/H, but haven't forgot where I came from. I just have a little fight in me for the guys trying to make a living on short L/H. Some sit longer at the flip terminal, than what it takes them to drive there, and get no extra what so ever. And I did it for years and years, because I liked the atmosphere at R+L compared to other LTLs I worked at. Because I did it, doesn't change that everyone else should continue to do things for free. They are at work, just like a city P&D guy, they need to be paid something.

Agreed. Heck, we have the swap trailer issue now that some are dealing with. Go and swap city freight at customers, some with double drop and hook and still doing all the paperwork yet they want to pay it as a linehaul with ::shit:: pay. We haven't gotten there yet. ours are short and on the clock but Im a city driver, have been for 15 years now. Don't go trying to pay me LH pay for doing city work. That's not gonna fly.

Agreed just the same. I as well 15+ years, but on L/H. All that I ever wished was to get paid our hourly while at work, just like city p&d. The run itself is a set pay and I agree that whether it takes you 5 hrs or 3 hrs, it stays the same, which is how it is. But, breakdown, sitting at a terminal and waiting to be loaded, needs to have a compensation wage of some sort. Breakdown is paid but, the first 2 hours are free. City p&d breaks down and BOOM all time is paid. Most of this stems from OTR mentality policy and guidelines forced upon home everyday LTL L/H because we have to fill out a log everyday, and its not the same. Most of our L/H have a pretty good set up for making a decent check even on the short ones. We have one that needs some kind of sit and wait pay. Have a great week Shadow, talk to ya later!:1036316054:

I'm a city driver for them. They tried to pull that pay sheet BS. Get in off your P&D then clock off and run a swap on pay sheet. I told them if I punch out, I'm going home. I'll gladly run the swap but if I do it's on the clock. The whole reason they started that pay sheet BS is because guys were abusing the clock. I understand that but with all the tech on the truck you can tell exactly where I'm at. Have a problem with guys abusing the system, deal with them individually. Thought it might be my last day. They acquiesced and from that day forward never got questioned. They've got guys senior to me they make run paysheet vs clock but they are also some who have a bad habit of riding the clock. Doesn't make it right, but this is one of the things about R&L's atmosphere I like. I keep my head down and don't bitch unless it is a legitimate safety issue, worked for the past ten years, 12 to go.

I would be calling HR right away and speak to Karen Curl or Jim Fishpaw, you’re terminal management should not be doing that, they’re allowed to give linehaul one in route delivery, but in this case they’re straight up abusing that clause.

The emerald palace knows all about it and thinks it's great . Word is that former assistant TM named Eric came up with it in NOR and it is spreading to other terminals. I heard he's a silver bullet now in WV.

Generally they don't want you faxing paperwork if you're on pay sheet. I was linehaul for a bit when I first started and know firsthand that I arrived at a swap location with an empty and had to wait for a guy on the clock to come off his route, sign and fax BOL's give them to me and then I could go on my way.

So far, ours isn't but Ive got it on pretty good authority that Wilmington is looking to push it everywhere. A friend in SC said that they switched all swaps to paysheet. They lost several senior drivers over it.
