There was an accident 1 mile west of Needles, Ca. I heard it was a Sleeper. Does anyone know who it was? I used to run a Big R sleeper out of Dallas. I still have a bunch of buddies over there.
If you have any info please let me know. I pray who ever it was Dallas driver or not that they are ok.

Driver was out of Blommington. Not a sleeper driver, was on a meet. He is ok just a little sore.Had radioactive on the trailer that turned over. Quite the mess.

A lot of guys flipping trailers. Same thing happened to a road driver out of my terminal (187) a few months ago .
Gee does anyone think that maybe there's a flaw with the new HOS regulations and that fact that drivers are being pushed to their limits?

I'm sure the irregular hours might have something to do with it .
If more drivers had steady start times .I'm sure the accident rate would drop!!!!!

Driver Ok

A FLAW? Lets see,A carrier can call a driver on 8 hrs.to be available for 10 hrs. Were is the 10 hrs. rest that the driver is supposed to get ,when from the time he punches in till the time he actualy gets to sleep is at least 2 hrs,and thats if he is a good boy and goes right to bed? How can they justify requiring a driver to be behind the wheel for 11 hrs.and call this SAFE?And then theres the 34 hr. reset,at least our leadership did step up and put a stop to that .But we still have Teamsters that will reset their hours in direct violation of the contract, and yes we have Teamsters that seem to sleep with their clothes on ,because they're up and paceing the floor 6 hrs. after they punch in,waiting for that work call, and when they do get the call they jump in the van and go,instead of taking the 2 hrs, that the contract says we have. All I can conclude is that the rules were written by greedy people and greedy people are taking advantage of the greedy rules and killing people on our nations highways. It is not about safety,It's about The almighty dollar.

The only thing wrong with the new HOS is it should be 10 hrs driving ,an as a good teamster I do not use the 34 restart.but then I an not a go go go me me me driver.I get to the motel 1 hr later I've showered and I am In bed I get 7-8 hrs sleep and ready to go in 10.I love the new hrs the company can't screw me like in the old rules I make a lot of money for sleeping when I can't make it in 14.they can't R.O.D me for 6-8 hrs like in the past.:smilie_132:
