FedEx Freight | FedEx Freight or Conway

Why?? We aren't union. I believe unions built the middle class. Union bashing shows people aren't well informed, and they believe the pap companies have been feeding the public for a very long time. I hope the union thing works out for you.

Well thanx, I hope it does as well, I am not really sure about the atmosphere change though and what too expect, I have worked for a union company before, and I was laid off, hence the reason for the non union portion of my venture.

I have never worked for a transitioning company though, and I am sure it will be mayhem for a couple of years.

I am for the union, but like anything else , in theory, not necessarily in practice... There is pro's and con's too everything.

Fedex Freight

I picked Fedex. Just kinda went by the word on the street from drivers. Not that this always means something but what trucks do you mostly see on the roads? Not to say con-way isn't a good company.

Fedex Freight

Like I said I cant complain any. I started out as supplemental dock at 25 hours a week went fulltime after 60 days went straight into the driver program after all said n done in a matter of 4 weeks I had my cdl class a, with dbls trpls and haz and here I am. Im just starting my 2nd year Im at $18.61 so I couldn't see it any better then that. Durning the winter im working the dock but when its busy I get several night shuttle runs a week and I have about 15 guys under me all this n a matter of a year. :) Pretty happy here so far.

con-way or fed ex

I see a lot of posts by east drivers not to many by the west.As I am from the west I see a real difference in work rules, bid types and experiences.I have been with FXFW for 11 years.I started as a Viking and spent 3 1/2 years as a system driver, this means being on call 24-7 with an option every 5 trips.Since becoming fdx things have become better with system drivers getting bids after about 6 months to a year.WE recently had several drivers come over from con-way,one of wich had 16 years strap in his yard.He says he is very happy over here and already has his own bid after less than a year.He told me his main reason for leaving con-way was the terrible way they treat there employees.:smilie_132:

Glad to see a happy camper. We have had a lot of growth these last couple of years because the economy was coming out of the 2001 recession and the 2005 Katrina, etc. Hopefully we will have a soft landing and the economy won't stall out. After 2008 elections if taxes are raised and the economy goes south, all bets are off. By that time you should have enough seniority and enough people behind you to give you a little cushion.

seems to me fedex was way better although it is slowly turnig into a ccx type company.now its just better soon it will be the same.

If I could turn back the clock or start over as a young man, I would go conway. The friends that I have at conway are so much further ahead of me in pay, retirerment, and job security theres no match. Sadly when other drivers ask me about who to work for I tell them to check out conway or holland.

Wow! Maybe you should go to Con-Way or maybe go back to McDonanlds:hysterical:

Mcdonalds is not a bad choice. Their store managers make over $100,000 a year and can work up to owning their own store which will make them millionare. How long untill you are a millionare ( no fair counting you wifes income):hysterical:

I work at Conway.A friend of mine has a brother in law that had applied at my barn and had been offered a position. When my friend told him that I worked there, the brother in law called me to get my opinion. We talked for about 30 min. then he thanked me for my input.A few days later my friend yells me that the brother in law decided to keep his propane delivery job making 14.00 hr.Now you could say that I caused this guy to make bad career choice because I have a bad attitude or had just had a bad day the day before, because you would think that would be an easy decision to make to go from 14.00 hr and high health ins. cost to start at around 18.00 hr. and only pay 1%.But the fact that this guy even called me in the first place tells you that even with all sweet talk and bulls**t the SCM was feeding him,he sensed that something wasn't quite right.I have a little over 3 years in and I would NEVER recommend to anyone that they leave any kind of a driving job and come here. The only reason I would even suggest it would be if somebody had no experience and needed to get there foot in the door and then only if they had exhausted every other possibility.I've heard it said that it's possible for someone to figure out who you are through these threads if they really wanted to so we should kind of watch what we say.And I know that I tend to run off at the mouth to much when I let these mother f****rs get me pi**ed off because of the way they treat us,but I would almost consider it a blessing if when I walked into work in the morning the SCM said "Your done, get the f**k off the property"(which is probably exactly how he would put it) :tongue0002: :tongue0002:

hmmmmm

Hard to tell..The Conway drivers I talk to seem happy. I don't know that fdx as a company is all that bad, I can tell you our managment sucks, very hositle work enviroment. Bad enough we have lost 11 senior drivers over 2 years...some with 20+ years. 1 quit and the others have transferred out. How much is due to the policies of the company or just overboard reaction by the managment, who knows, but Conway (up here) doesn't seem to have the turn over or issues we have...tough to say. I just know, 1 more year, and I am a free man to find out which is better.

Welcome ''cactus flower'' please tell the others in the barn about us here.
Thanks and have fun here , also please read our rules before getting started.
