I Have been with Roadway for 16 years and I have made a very good living for my Family and I.I would and have recommended my friends for employment at Roadway.

To me it takes the life out of you, so I would not recomend working at the Big R. But in reality it is a good job.

Thanks for the welcome. As for the life being taken out of you, I guess that it would help if I wasn't a %er. Actually laid off, but all in all, good pay, benefits, and the job isn't all that hard. Unless we make it that way.

Yup I went up 20,000 a year when i went to full rate. I don't agree with starting drivers off at 75%. That sucked !

I would recommend Roadway but would let them know what they are getting themselves into. By that I mean, lay-off and swing shifts, etc. I have 2 guys below me and I have been here 10 years. Been laid off every year but this one. I take advantage of the lay off. Kind of miss it this year. The unassigned( swing shifts ) is what gets me. Can't sleep right anymore..Overall, glad I work for the Big R.........

I worked at all of the Big 3 CF, Yellow, Roadway, all in Buffalo, and by far Roadway was the best to work for. But,l they all really suck. Best payin job I ever hated was my quote to new guys. Made more money than I will ever spend in this life, but I missed a lot with the kids growin up. Would have worked for less if I had the choice to transfer to the city, 5 days, 8 hours, but I was in linehaul, and right up till my last day I was on a 6 day bid.

Its really a good job, would I recommend it? Not sure. At this point, I would if it was to a small barn, say 100 doors or less. The Big ones are just getting to bad. Unless you got thirty years senority. But none the less, where else to you get paid more for what we do, with alot, with the education they have? Thanks Roadway, evn if you chased me out and made me transfer.

Best road job I ever had. Would I do it again? Not on your life... or mine. I would drive local. I agree with BigR. Money I made wasn't worth the time I was away from family. But for someone who wants a job in this business I would recommend Roadway.

I just heard a stock report on yrc.they said that yrc is lost a lot of money last year.yrc had high op.costs,. duh-- could it be the high cost of the stupid changes that yrc is doing.last years change cost no less then 50 million plus all the lost freight.they HAD one of the best relay systems in freight and they messed it up really bad.plus now you have the new change this will cost another 20-50 million.I guess they want roadway to lose money. The stock holders should see the numbers --the real numbers not the company ones!:duh: :soapbox:

Yes the pay and benefits are great but I don`t think I could recommend a life of weekends, the call list, and layoffs to a friend. It`s just a shame the way they treat the guys they lay off. They lay them off and then use them as %`s just because they can. It`s just really scary the way their running things right now.

13 yrs seen alot of changes its hard to tell. seen someone stuck on nights and weekends + oncall sucks.but the med beneifits and pay help the pain.
