SAIA | Saia buys a company!

DHL is going to buy ABF. Much better operator. if they can't get that done, they might look at Saia perhaps.

UPS will not buy Saia. They already have that network in place with UPSF. Nothing to be gained. Plus, buying another non-union carrier will do nothing but make the Teamsters even madder than they are already are about the old Overnite...which is plenty darn mad.

Signed - LandAir80 (I work for Ward)

No offence to anyone here, I find it rather neat how people speculate on what UPS can and cannot buy. UPS can buy ABF, wether they do ,or not ,remains to be seen, if they buy anyone at all. UPSF is still in it's infancy, we have alot too acomplish yet, and thinking of a buyout this early is quite PREMATURE. At least until the #'s start rolling in, and our effinciency is where it needs to be.

As long as the company being bought is under the name UPS , UPS can buy any thing they want and run it as a seperate entity from UPSF. After all , UPSF is actually a division of SCS which is comprised of both organized and non organized labor.

Furthermore if they do buy another entity here in the US , UPS will not only be doubeling thier coverage, they will be buying out account's as well as realestate ,and it will be someone with a footprint in CANADA, A BIG ONE. and three carriers come too mind. 2 green 1, blue.

Dang guys, you have wild idea's...and they might come true and it will be a one in a million if it does..they are not ever and never have told anybody about a buyout until it is over and it is law they it is published it after the buyout...it is called inside trading if they should slip and tell someone and I promise you if they did tell, it will not be a driver..so wake up guys, ....learn never to hope in wishful thinking.....lol.lol.lol.lol.lol.

This is not WILD IDEAS , it is happening all over the world, read up on 3PL companies and you will see.....

Pitt Ohio is not buying Land Air and they do not have intergrated computer system! They are interline carrier and that is all. They interline with more then 10 Companies and that does not mean that they are going to be bought out! We do ou get you're info from???? How do i know? Because i work at Land Air and deal with all of the interlines!

While the screen name is confusing... WardDriver80 is right. LandAir and Pitt Ohio I hear are extrememly busy and both are having a very strong year. LandAir just expanded into NJ and Pitt Ohio into Indiana and Michigan. If they were being bought then why would LandAir open NJ, Pitt Ohio already has terminals there. Land Air is working with Pitt Ohio as an interline but there is no way LandAir would sell.

Welcome to the boards and I am glad that someone from California knows so much about northeast regional carriers. :smilie_132:

Nobody knows what is going to happen, NOBODY

It is all speculation, and my speculation is no more valid than your speculation. Its when someone says they know something that annoys me.

What annoys me more is when someone LIES about the company that they work for.

And for the record, Land Air services NJ from an existing terminal in Newburgh, NY. Its not like they invested any money into their NJ "Expansion".

Plus they are currently running two, count them, two peddle men into NJ. Not exactly setting th world on fire.

catrucker, I think the loss of Holland interline freight had to hurt Landair somewhat.

Welcome to Truckingboards

To be honest CFer, I do not think there is a trucking company in the entire US that is "extremely" busy at this point in time.

The first quarter has been soft for everybody, we have all seen the threads on these boards.

And will start seeing the 1Q Wall St reports in the next couple of weeks, to prove that point.

NEMF is busier then ever, but of course it's all just revenue and no profit! They will be the next to sell. They are just trying to raise revenues no matter what the cost.

The Holland business was a loss to Landair. But my understanding is that they are posting record rev number year to date. Obviously they have replaced that business with other business. I know that Saia has become a big player as well as Pitt Ohio and I kmnw that landair and pitt ohio are both growing fast.

I drop loads at Landair in Newburg. I don't now how many trucks per day they have in NJ but I can tell you that they are sending A LOT more than two trucks per day.

Please remember what you said in this post. You do not know how many trucks, I do. I am personal friends with Jerry the TM. I have been involved with Land Air from the start in Newburgh, whether with Joe, Bill or Jerry, the three TM's they have had over there. So you can assume and make what ever guesses you want. I only speak with facts.

With regards to land Air posting record numbers, please let me know where these numbers are supposedly posted. They are a privately owned company and do not post their revenue or profits, so again, you speak in guesses as opposed to facts.

Sorry to come across so strong, but when you see people speaking about things that are inaccurate, it is hard to let it go.

Thanks for listening, hopefully

I know how you feel. If you were so close with Jerry. You would know that he is no longer with Landair. Oh ya, and Jerry is spelled with a G.

LoL that is funny Gerry's name was def spelt with a G! Everyone seems to know alot about what is going on at Land Air, but i think that the best was that Pitt Ohio is going to buy Land Air that was a good one but to tell you the truth everytime we start with a new carrier the rumors go flying.... Samething happened when we started with Saia! O well i guess people just love to talk....

The funny part is that it was not a rumor, it was speculation. There is a big difference. The information from what I gather started over in the Newburgh, NY facility by a girl who does billing at night there.....I guess she has a boyfriend that drives and he was running his mouth.

So again I ask, where is Land Air posting their record revenue numbers....Please do not avoid the important issue here, not the misspelling of a guys name......

Well i know that we don't do billing in Nbg at night. But as of 2 weeks ago we only had 1 girl working at night, so i guess that i know who you are talking about and her b-friend doesn't drive but he does have a big mouth! that's for sure.... Sorry about the rumor part but now that i know who started it i can def see how this got started.
