FedEx Freight | National Driver here. Yes, it's ALL my fault.

"I understand what is going on with the Company, and I am one of the fortunate ones, that will be able to retain a job with FedEx Freight, and I am very thankful for that. I do not care about what truck I drive, I don't care about my start time, I am not worried about losing 2 paid days off per year. I am not pointing fingers at any one person, ESPECIALLY fellow drivers at FXNL or FXF."

If you weren't "one of the fortunate ones", you would be singing a differnet tune. Even though I don't work for Fedex, I had to take a job 600 miles away from my family and live in my pick up truck for 10 months, sell all our furniture, so that I could pay my mortgage and feed my family.

It is very difficult to find a job nowadays and all the LTL companies have lowered their starting pay. Even if you have many years of experience and a clean license, they will not negotiate the starting pay. Been there, done that. That means you will be making the same wage as a driver with minimal years of experience. I strongly disagree.

It is good to be able to vent out fustrations and worries. We need to be able to encourage one another through the hard times instead of saying, "Time to Nut up or shut-up!"

You are definitely a compromiser, ass kisser and would do anything to keep his job.

You would make a good terminal manager. lol.

Everybody needs to step back and take a deep breath.

We have been into this just over a week...with four months to go...which is a long time for things to potentially change.

Those wishing for severance needed to have their requests in by 9/24 and those wanting to transfer by 10/4.

Between 10/4 and 10/15 those numbers will be crunched and notifications will be given to those who qualify...until that happens everything is conjecture. On 10/15 the TMs will be in meetings to discuss the ramifications of those numbers.

Everything to this point in regards to changes have been based on computer models...software designed to handle these kinds of situations.

It is faceless number crunching.

Once the dust has settled as to who is going where then adjustments will be made.

In the mean time relax...take the significant other out to dinner...beat the kids (just kidding!)...have a cookout...whatever it takes to get on with your life in a normal manner.

We have a LONG WAY to go before all is written in stone.

I thought you worked at Con-Way?

That's for sure Rat. After they compile all the decision forms and crunch the numbers who knows how it will really shake out.
Then after that there's the long period between mid October to January and who knows what could happen during that time that would change the picture again.

Well, thanks for you opinion, and I am glad you know me so well, that you know exactly how I would feel if I was getting layed off? I will tell you this, I would take it like a man, as that is what I am. I would just move on, and get on with my life. There would be no reason to cry ***** and moan about something that is out of my control. As a US Marine, (86-90) I learned to adapt, to improvise, and overcome my insecurities and to deal with, and make the best of the situation at hand.

And FYI, I was in management at UPS, Driver first for 2 years, then lead Driver for 2 years, then Ops Manager for 3 years, and a route manager at another trucking company for about 2 years. I know both sides of the fence very well.
I drive now by choice, as there is not as much BS to deal with, and I make more money as a driver! I have held my CDL since April 1991.

I understand what you are saying about having to move away from your family, you did what you had to do, and I applaud you for that. That shows you have character.
You strongly disagree? I have many years of experience in the trucking industry, just not all at FedEx, so it is what is is in the end. Sorry if you feel I should be layed off instead of someone else. Besides the fact you do not even work for FedEx, you are the first one to post something of a negative nature into my thread here. It is Time to Nut up, or shut up.

Actually PB I don't think you will get laid off. FXF is bringing a lot of business to your terminal, plus there will be seven spots opening up for shuttle drivers. Keep the faith TP

Thanks! Yeah, I do not think I will be laid off either, but I know some guys at my terminal that will be, and most of them are taking it like a champ!

Hi Everyone. I am a Current FXNL P&D driver out of Southern California, soon to be called a "CITY Driver".;)

National employees are an easy target. That is just human nature I guess, you have to have someone to blame, so here I am!:1036316054:

Ok since the one Nat'l driver is going to take all the blame can we just cover him in honey and stake him on an ant hill and be done with all the foolishness and fighting. I sure would like the boards to go back to being fun. Full of gossip and driver rumors and what if. Not all this anger.

If the Nat'l driver is real studdly I just rub honey on him and we won't put him on the ants. Hate to waste good man flesh LOL.

You people need to lighten up some now. It's been two weeks and I won't have a job at the end of this all. I haven't hung myself yet. Rope scratched my neck LOL.

Wow purple what a post. But one thing I'm perplexed about is, I am FXNL too and, I'm positive there isn't anyone working here that can string that many coherent sentences together clearly enough to put forth a concise and accurate picture. So my question to you is " Who are you and what have you done to the poor FXNL drivers body you took over". LOL
