:1036316054:I was just passing along the info that I looked up for some of the other guys here. If you look on that web site you will see what it states.

If you decide to stay none union in a union terminal you dont pay dews but you also dont get full representation from the union.Meaning they will not try as hard as if you were. Heard that from a little birdie that is with the International..

do not know what that one is. was looking up right to work on google and came up with this one. and yes, it says you get the same stuff, you can not vote on anything, and i`m sure the representation would not be as full an effort afforded to a dues paying member, although that website is there to make sure you are treated the same.

Welcome to the boards 46stang. And it all depends on the state laws where you are employed. Some states you are allowed to work and reap the benefit of unionization without dues, in others states, you are not allowed to continue working if a company goes union and you do not want to join. And others as you stated in the above statement. Do yourself a favor though, don't relie on heresay.

The advice I heard one union rep said was, if you are in a right to work state and someone does not want to join the union, then no one will talk to that person, ever. It works real good. Isolation is a lonely place. The real problem with not being a dues paying member is in a grievance hearing. 3 union agents sit on a board with 3 company reps, all they have to do is agree with the company reps and you lose. Also in arbitration they will go with the company selected arbitrator, then again you are screwed. Nothing is free in this world.and you get what you pay for.:nutkick:

Yellow in OKC had a guy a few years ago who wouldn't join the Union. After a few months he was called for a Dallas turn and mysteriously got a phone call before he went to work telling him that there would be sort of welcoming committee greeting him upon his arrival in Dallas. He called work and quit.

true or not it is stories like that that make people not want to join a union!

I got my first union city driving job back in 1966,after a few days the TM told me I'd have to go to the union hall, and join,or he couldn't use me anymore.

I was so green about the Teamsters union at that time.
But this was the best job I ever had up to that point in time.
So I did just what the Boss said.
I went to my local union hall, paid my fee,and became a Teamster.
That was the most I ever made per hour $3.30 so I felt it wasn't worth aruging about, the TM said do it,I did,and the rest is history.

With the government overseeing all union activities now days.
the corruption doesn't go on to long before the guilty parties have to go to jail.

I was saving the "Wrorkforce harrasment laws" for a future post, you beat me too it

The company has a legal obligation to insure there employees a safe work enviroment or there held liable.

They will take care of troublemakers, on either side.

What about out of work?

I don't know about you and where you live but, I can take care of myself.

I carry a camera at work and my cellphone has a camera, I take pictures of everything, Just to CMA.

Yes your very smart Overnite.
I also bring a digital camera in my lunch bag,as well has having one on my cell phone.

The one camera has made all the difference in many cases I've incountered on my job.
Nobody can argue about a picture, everything is before your eyes in living color.

It's a true story. Anybody who knows anything about thew Teamsters knows that Local 245 in Dallas is a pretty tough, proud Local. The freeloader wasn't threatened in any way. He just decided to resign rather than tell the guys in Dallas why he didn't like Teamsters. Nobody ever said they were going to do anything to him.
