TForce | UPS Freight contract now posted!!!!!

This one one of the issues that I felt would be a potential problem with unionization. Both yellow and ABF are complaining about our stipulations regarding part-timers and the like. However, this model is benificial to us because it keeps our operational costs down, which, in turn, allows us the ability to be competative in our pricing indexes.

Hopefully, we shall be able to maintain our current model for operations without the NMFA getting too involved. Otherwise, we will loose a great deal in conforming to the nation-wide standards imposed on us by other LTL companies(and right now, we simply do not have the numbers to keep up with the other companies if we were all to be on the same page----even with the discounts given for air and parcel).

this contract scares me,
this not much more than the ups rule book with raises. nmfa is worded better than this thing is. if you look at what we have it is real close to what they put in the contract. 401k, health care, retirement could be a lot better. other than knowing what the raises are what is better?

Steves right..............

Hey Ollie will you be able to support your family on 7 hours a day?

3 1/2 hours in the early am the 3 1/2 hors in the pm.

Freight companies under the NMFA struck in '94 to stop part timers, I'm not shooting down this contract, only the attitude of people like yourself that think that giving in to a mega billion dollar company so they can make even more by using part timers is the wrong attiude or appraoch to take.
Falling for the " we gotta compete speech" is a sham.

PART TIME AMERICA DOESN'T WORK

Look how big wally-world is (Wal-Mart)
They employee more people than any other company world wide.
Most of their workers are part timer's.
They receive almost no benefits, other than being able to get Wal-Mart stock a little cheaper than the rest of us.

So here you go the biggest employer gipping a lot of their workers out of benefits, yet they are really raking in the profit.

One sad note in all of this is Wal-Mart has people waiting in line to hire on with them even though they are such a cheap outfit.

What TDU has posted if in fact that is the contract for INDY it is a joke if they settle for that. SPLIT RAISES! LOL! Where is the weeks of vaction, week of sick pay and week of personal holidays?:hysterical:

The vacations-sick days-1 p/h are the same. Split raises are new.The contract is in effect on 8-1 so you would get half on 1-1 and the other 0n 7-1 instead of the whole raise on 8-1:smilie_132:

Question for you guys. Do you think there are going to be supplements(per region/local) in addition to the UPS Freight general contract. Because maybe Indy's supplements were great and that is why they voted for the contract???? And if so why aren't they sharing that info??

Still have yet to see anything on benefits. Also nothing about if Line Drivers will still receive 1/52nd for vacation.

Also, why is the top rate such a big secret? And why do we have to split the raises into halves?

Why is the start out so low? I guess they figure on recruiting on the brand alone. I don't think we will be able to recruit quality drivers with this scale.

I hope it's BS.

Welcome to the boards BigEd!!! Yes, regional suppliments are what is going to take place. New England has one of the strongest supplimental contracts in the country.

News Flash... I just found out this morning that California will not be negotiating supplements. This info come directly thru the union Rep. The Indy Contract, is what you see, is what you get. Minus the .50 cent of retro pay. I guess this is what you call a white paper contract...???????
