TForce | Meeting in Dallas with Local 745 this Sunday @ Embassy Suites

OMG WTF Skeeter!!! You guys found someone at your Local to have a meeting with? Please give us the details when you get back.

No! They are still nowhere to be found. But if and when we ever do have a meeting I'll let you know.

Thanks. These things happen and no one ever hears another word. I hope that after everyone hears and has their questions answered that they will sign cards, so we can start taking the next step to negotiating. We just have to get the best deal possible. The days of the 60's contracts are over and like it or not we have to understand this, but representation is good. INDY left many flat because they had been hoping so much more, but they have taken the step and I think they did a well as possible. UPS was not going to sign something that would slow their business.
MFASU, What is the next negotiating step? I thought this was the contract since INDY voted YES?

One more question: A terminal needs 51% of the vote of those voting, Does this mean a 51% nationwide vote will mean all terminals will be unioin, or will it be terminal to terminal vote? That will mean some will be union and some won't!! I don't think that would go over very well! (some union and some non)

Bulldog425,
There are no dumb questions in this deal. A lot of guys have no idea how it all works.

The voting will be done by each individual terminal....not a national vote. And actually a terminal needs 50% plus one vote. Not a big difference from 51% but at a 200 worker barn 101 yes votes would make it a Teamster barn.

Bulldog 245, Just read Emptypockets feedback from the meeting, it is very detailed. We just have to be patient now and what on the three items that Emptypockets advised us about. Just advise your brothers and sisters at your terminal so when we can sign card, we are ready to move quickly.

The union has 3 years for the card check process, do not forget that, so if you do not want to join now, you can later.:1036316054:

This question was asked and the IBT rep. said the card check language is a local check and there will be NO national check!

I forgot to tell ya about 20dollar office visit for the doctor.Plus my fee for telling you this...just kidding.Eye exams free free eyeglasses once a year. There are a whole lot of info in Teamster.com website. You can call them and they will gladly tell ya more

That's nice my $15.00 office visit and free eye exam and then my 50% off of eyeglasses is'nt good enough.

Sorry:chairshot: you answered your own godd** questoin "A terminal needs 51% of the vote of those voting" this means A terminal votes the union yea or nea. Yes some will be union and some won't.

Theres not going to be any voting according to our local Teamsters.
Signing a card for representation will be your vote.

Whenever the Teamster locals get around to passing out the cards to all terminals besides Reno, and Indy who already are dues paying Teamsters.

When the cards are signed at each location, then everyone will see who is in,and who is out.

10-4 isn't that what I just posted before you Accelerator?
Signing a card is just for you to say if you want to join the Teamsters union or not.

In the far past signing a card ment you wanted to have your terminals employees to hold an eclection, for the Teamster to represent everybody.
But now theres only going to be a card check, with no other election for representation.

So does this explan it any better?

or aren't I communicating my point very well?
