Striking or NOT..That is the question?

BA means business agent, not business associate. Generally BA's do not pass out cards, the people that do that are called organizers. Maybe you should turn in your card as a public act of defiance, stand up for yourself, be a free thinker.

While at work share you distrust for the union with your co-workers come on Mr. freethinker come out of the closet. I think you won't because you can't, because you are not what you imply you are.

Agent... Associate... Same gosh darn thing. I know they are not the ones who pass out cards. They are the that are responsable for the number of card carriers they have. They are the ones who tell the organizers what to do.

And as far as the "freethinker" thing. Nothing that I have said was told to me by upper managment to say. I thought of it all on my own.

Who am I... I can tell you this much, because if I tell you who exactly I am... then why do we use cool screen names. I am a line driver who drives the highways and byways of this great United States and I DO NOT WANT TO BE IN MANAGEMENT... WHy... Because I make more money then all of the managers by driving with out the head aches. And I have never implied anything.:1036316054:

He is just a wise man, shame we can't say the same about you. You don't even work for OAKH. You are bitter and just want the company destroyed for your own person agenda, then you come out like you are for union brotherhood when you could care less about the drivers. You just want to stir up fear and mobs. That is sad man.
:chairshot:Over here at Uncle Stan's Company we've been rounding up every empty we can locate. So has Portland. You can bet O.D. and the other regionals are doing the same. I'm sure there's some interesting chats between the cousins going on. I've been around since these Companies were Master Freight. Both have been good union carriers over the years. They will stay that way or they will die that way. The choice is up to these hard headed Dutchmen. Don't compromise your principals or values. Take your stand. We're watching very closely over here at the "white truck company".

Here is the funny thing. I am a card carrying member of the "Brotherhood of Teamsters" and I can tell you from my own history. That if anyone thinks that thier local "Business accociate" is looking out for their "Brotherhoods" best interest, you are sadly mistaken. The only thing that your local BA is looking out for is the number of card carring members he has on file.

I have watched BA's put people out of work because of thier own arrogance. I have worked out of 4 different halls over the years and they were all the same. Get you signed up then forget about you. All they care about is thier quota.

But that is just my opinon....

That is why YOU have to look at what is being presented to you and you have to do that with an open mind.

I respect your opinon and you have all the right to voice it.

Now tell us what you did to reign in the out of control BA's.

BA's and congressmen are both like a baby's diaper, and I am sure you know the rest of the quote.

We have a guy moving empties to Eugene [non-union] to day, he wondered why.:biglaugh:

I was always under the impression that they are not on speaking terms. Or is it only when it comes to fight the evil union?

Thanks. You just keep your hands off of the customers. Just tell them that it is a temporary thing.

When is your contract up?
Was interesting on your post the other day on which terminals is union/non-union.

Sadly with the recent changes the King George and his cronies has made in the labor laws it is going to be a long haul for all of us. The NLRB has just become another puppet of this administration.

But in 2005, Washington lawmakers approved a new state estate tax. While its supporters claim the state death tax targets only “the rich,” people like Ed and Dave VanderPol will find themselves and Oak Harbor Freight in its cross hairs.

:BS:“Money is overrated. This is about integrity, customer service and wonderful employees,” says Ed, who was honored as the 2004 Alumnus of the Year during Homecoming in January. “God expects us to help others and blesses us to be able to do so.”

A combination of successful business practices, good hearts and helping hands has grown Oak Harbor into a transportation company that serves more Northwest points than any other single carrier. Whenever a snowstorm shuts down the mountain passes, businesses in Eastern Washington know they can count on Oak Harbor to go a day out of the way by first driving south to Portland, then turning east to bypass the Cascade Range before turning north again to finally deliver the goods.

Umm... I was responding to "truckenjoe", not you.

And we are quite aware that no one wins in a strike. Quite aware. But nevertheless, there is a time to strike.

You've got to stand for something, or you'll fall for anything. That's the title to a country song by Aaron Tippen, I believe, but it's a true adage.

If you don't draw the line here, where exactly do you draw the line? And if you keep moving the line further and further back, they own your butt.

Plain and simple. They will own you. Does that thought make you feel good?

Personally, I hate the thought of a strike. But make no mistake, if they push us that direction, I will strike them, and furthermore, I will make sure they go out of business... forever and ever, amen.

I think that's a country song, too, by golly...:nutkick:

shifter is actually a dimbwit...he can't draw a line nore make sand. His 'commerce' is BS, tryin to incite. The reason?...I'll tell ya. He wants control of his life but too afraid to get it.

lets go through your pvt records even if they are public record. man you are really sad if you need to stock VanderPol's on the computer.

They give a lot to help the poor, they give over a million pounds of food to the food banks each year they carry free of charge medical supplies for the poor. And several other great things. Tell us what do you give? Nothing...You go on the computer to stock. Not to bright.

The proper response would to use the powerful tool that is provided to the employees. [email protected]

But in all fairness there is always lawsuits that businesses have to put up with and I doubt if this one is any big thing. I could make a wild guess but I don't want to get accused of "stocking Oakh by computer."

:1036316054:If you strike or walk how ever wish to pharse it you will lose your job. Because someone else will be doing your job.

Guys, strike is the last option, and probably wont happen. You need to stay focused on the goal. Staying focused on the improvement of working conditions and personal pride, benefits, and whatever all of the issues are.

We are all rooting for you, and on your side.:1036316054:

I know that we move lots of things for donation and I am proud of the fact that we do. Could you clarify "they give over a million pounds of food?" Don't we just provide the freight?
