Estes | MR.Estes xmas present

A little advise....take care of your people and they willl take care of you.....clean house and make sure you get some good management where you need it and get rid of the excess and "I'm just here for a paycheck" supervisors....

Mr. Estes needs a good dose of reality for Christmas!!! He has a bunch of people running his company, who could not qualify for a job as a janitor at our competitors!!!!

The reason they would not qualify is because you have to know what you're doing, have common sense and care about your job to be a janitor. Janitors are very under-rated.:1036316054:

NO DOUBT!!!!! I think I would make a good one(janitor). I would give the bunkhouses a real good scrubbin' with some dis-infectant.

i WOULD GIVE HIM ANOTHER NIGHTMARE!! and scare him so bad that he would put all the good rules GI had to keep it's people happy !! all your delays OT after 40hrs. paid fuel time! paid breakdown time!Respect for sinoerity and so on and so on!!

janitor is a step above a dock worker is it not?

:hysterical: How come the guys that do the most work get the least amount of credit? Ever see hub drivers work the dock? I'm not sure how the company trusts them with 80,000 pounds of rolling thunder, when they can barely manage to drive a forklift. IMO I think everyone's an important part of the operation. Dock, Road guy, P&D guy, Hub guy. Where they screw up is hiring guys to manage people that can't or have never done the job of the people they are managing. Better yet, when you know a guy came from where we were and gets to management and forgets where he came from. One step above a dockworker.. thats laughable at best. Maybe instead of bashing dock guys, some of you drivers should practice backing up. I've never seen guys call themselves professional truck drivers that can't hit a dock. That have been pulling pups for years upon years yet can't hook a set without first spotting the dolly. Guys that have been hauling hazmat for years and don't have the foggiest idea of how to placard their load. Guys that can't use the bathroom when they're inside and have to **** between trailers on the outbound when they hook up. So while we do have some incapable dock guys, we do have some professionals. Drivers want respected and so do we. Most drivers I ever talk to say they could never do my job due to a lot of things. But at least I can find the bathroom.

...Guys that have been hauling hazmat for years and don't have the foggiest idea of how to placard their load.
I understand your point and believe me I've done dock, p&d and line-haul, but a pet peeve of mine has always been haz-mat. Yeah, the driver is the ultimate responsibility to make sure things are right when he leaves. Guess what though.....it's supposed to be done before he takes control of the trailer. Hazmat is supposed to be controlled and placarded BY THE LOADER and confirmed by THE SUPERVISOR.....BEFORE driver even gets the paperwork for it.

Again, I see your point, but make sure the facts fit the point.

oh my goodness, did he just say he was a dock worker? I can no longer talk to him, thought he was one of us...shh maybe he will climb back on his forklift and leave....hehe

TEST:
#The placards should be placed on the vehicle:
A. Before you load it
B. Before you drive it
C. Before you get to your destination
D. Before you cross a scale
E. Ask a dockworker cause they will know!

#What placard may be used for Table 2 materials none of which equal 1,000 lbs?
A Dangerous
B Dangerous When Wet
C Hazardous
D Lasagna

I'm guessing it being the loaders responsibility must be the protocol at EOL terminals, but I know here @ 024 its the yard guys job to placard the trailers when they pull them from the dock. I'm glad you understand what I was getting at, and that my intent was to not throw any of the guys that actually keep this company going, under the bus. It's just one of my pet peeves when dock guys don't get the credit they deserve. :1036316054:

I'm gonna have to say my answers are as follows..

#1 B & F) Also unplacarding before you enter a tunnel to not have to go around, to save you time. Then flipping them back when you make a few miles past the tunnel. :hysterical:

#2 D first, that's how you got the load in the first place, then B.

Back to my propane powered Cadillac, somebody's gotta make sure you couldn't even fit a fart into those outbounds. :1036316054:

Dock Scum out, and hoping everyone's holiday was good.:smilie_132:

You have my respect. I know how hard you guys work out there on that cold miserable dock. You are correct. Some of the drivers I have seen at Estes are really something to behold. I am not speaking about the G.I. guys or the Estes veterans either. But the newer guys seem real confused. You get what you pay for. Who is going to drive for Estes when there are so many better choices? As far as mr jesus' idiotic remark, we are all just one cog in the wheel, that makes the machine perform. Unfortunately Estes management has taken a stance that their cog is much more deserving of praise than you and I. So I say F*** em. Elvis out and angry today....... Ate too much turkey.....

bad turkey too!! NOT!!!! it was fried with peanut oil and real good!!! i think Elvis is just upset that you have never have had anything bad happen like breakdown or sit at terminal for hours and not getb paid for it!!and being from the Denver yard .they always get new equipment!! so your lucky!! and guess doon't have any complaints and don't have to worry about expensive house payments cause you probley moved to Colorado when it was cheap!! but other people in otheer areas have it harder not better like you sir!! :1036316054:
