How much would it have cost each driver if the first vote came in as a NO, and they closed the doors 2 years ago?
We don't know that a no vote two years ago would have closed the doors. Maybe if we would have taken a stand two years ago, they wouldn't have got the impression that we were leaning backwards. And if we would have said NO two years ago, maybe they would have stopped funding the overseas companies with our money. But since we opened the door for them once, they just keep on coming back.

Give us a break you don't even work anymore . your sitting home on your ass wanting this b/s to pass because your counting on a pension that dont exist..
remember while your riding this ::shit:: out on your couch we are the ones driving the trucks ....

That's right, I can't work anymore, I got blasted from behind while minding my business and doing my job, had 2 major surgeries, and I would trade places with you in a heartbeat....would you? But if I could work, I would, and I would still vote yes. I look at the big picture, I am a realist and use my mind, not my emotions to decide what I think is best, not only for myself but every Teamster Brother & Sister that this will affect. You think this has no impact outside YRC? It has implications that could take down the rest of organized LTL if YRC is out of the game. I have been on 4 Teamster jobs spanning 30 years. I have been on 2 nonunion jobs for a total of 2 years. Do I have to tell you which side butters their bread??? I think not. But you and all the other staunch, oblivious, self righteous know it alls, think that closing YRC will have no affect on the future of the Teamsters. I have walked the picket lines, I have fought for what I believed, I have also been on the other side of the fence and been told "if I don't like it, there's the door" on numerous occasions. I know when to pick my battles, and when to lay low for the right opportunities. Closing YRC will have long term ramifications not only for ABF and UPSF but for the nonunion companies also. I guess Fedex, which is about to lay off 1700 people will hire you before they take back their own people? I'm sure Conway or OD will hire you before they can take rookies off the street and mold them to fit their image? And what will happen to nonunion wages and benefits that the threat of a Teamster workforce keeps on a par with ours? I know the answer....those will get cut like a hot knife going through butter. They will no longer need to be propped up, because there will be no more fear of their precious employees being organized by the Big Bad Teamsters. The union will never be able to organize again. Thus not only affecting Teamster jobs in LTL, but car haul, grocery haulers, beverage carriers...you name it. It will all come crashing down. And the nonunion companies of this country will say, "you don't need a union, unions destroy companies". But we do know better. We do know that corporate greed destroys companies. We have seen it in so many industries. But that's OK. I'm sitting on my ass at home, and I have no idea what I'm talking about, and all I care about is myself.

I tell you what.... personally, as far as I am concerned for myself, I could give a rat's ass if YRC closed or not. I planned for my future the day I stepped in a truck at Preston. I have my house, my cars, 2 nice boats, and money in the bank to last the rest of my life. I don't even need my stinking pension, but I earned it and therefore I want it. But it will not make or break me. However, I do care about my fellow Teamsters that were not as wise or fortunate to plan ahead as I did. Therefore, I will do what I feel is best to help preserve what's left of this union, and hope for a better day when we can all grow, prosper, and bring our nonunion workers into the fold. But go ahead....vote no. It won't affect me one bit. But, I suspect it will affect you, and those that think like you, a lot more, probably for the worse. So don't worry about me. Next summer when you are looking for a job, I will either be cruising the highways in one of my cars, or lounging off a beach in one of my boats, drinking beers and catching some rays, or cooking steaks on my grill in the back yard, laying half naked in the grass. So be careful what you wish for...it just may come true.

Your first sentence is quite true. We don't know. But we do know that the Yes vote got us 2 more years of work and salaries. Reduced or not, most people were still able to pay their bills. Would you really want to know what it would be like for YRC to close? And let me ask you a question. Do you really think if the company was doing well, they would keep seeking sacrifices from it's workforce?

well said. I agree with all your points except ... I don't believe our dream of having everyone becoming organized will ever come true. Too many anti union talk show hosts and website owners running around drowning our voices out.

You got me all wrong pal. I'm not telling you how to vote, or anyone else for that matter. I am telling you why I would vote yes, and to use your head and not your emotions when making such an important decision. I may not be able to work, but I am still pissed to all hell that we are all in this position, because of some :shit:turd that has an ego the size of Texas, and the knowledge of a goldfish when it comes to hauling freight. This is not an easy choice to make, regardless of yes or no. I have no love for Yellow. I've been on a job shut down by Yellow. The day we got news of the merger, I said it was the beginning of the end. Just ask anyone that I worked with. To tell you the truth, I am surprised it's lasted this long...hmmm....ya think maybe the previous givebacks had anything to do with it? I would simply hope that YRC can pull through this turmoil and down the road, the people that made the REAL sacrifices will be able to regain the things we gave up to keep the company alive.

Just don't go with a gut reaction out of anger. Get all the information you can before you vote. If the company says something, look for proof. If the union says something, ask for the proof. As a Teamster, I usually put more credence in the information the Union tells me than what the company tells me. But when the Union says they have seen the books. They hired a specialist that knows how to make a company profitable again and is willing to get YRC back to that level, then I tend to side on my Union's advice. Good luck how ever you choose.

Well said. Nice post Animo

Management is nothing but a bunch of liars......Remember the last 2 concessions with them begging for help and we gave it to them and now round stinking 3........I guarantee if this passes they will come crawling back to the IBT for round 4........If round 3 passes and the ecomony starts rocking and rolling guess what?..........NO SNAPBACK..........You will have to live with this garbage for 5 yrs..........nuff said

Yea and you can live with a shut down forever!

They did this 2 times already .. I guess they lied ..thats my research I'm voting NO

According to an article put out by Gerson Lehrman Group regarding the leaving of Zollars , the IBT estimates that the average Teamster lost $ 25,168 per year in concessions. Can you really afford it ?
And why hasn't this tidbit of knowledge been reported to us by the IBT. The truth REALLY hurts .

If you would like to see what the last two yes votes have gotten you then just look at your pay stub. The total YTD is what you got just this year thanks to those yes votes. Tyson and the financial experts made it clear on the call Tuesday. The company would not be here without the yes vote.
