This post got buried in another thread. And was off topic.

Well the IBT has spent over $10 M trying to organize Overnite/UPS Freight over the last 14 years....IF...everyone one of you that was eligible to be members (12,600) were to join and pay dues.....you would pay approx. $3,465,000 over the next 5 years.....

meaning it would take 15 years to recover the money spent....but that also means the dues that would be taken during those 15 years would be returned back to ALL members by way of representation and bargaining..........

so the IBT will never get its intital costs returned....so that bucket holds no water here.....KK

That is not true.

3,465,000 / 12,600 = $275 is what each employee would pay over 5 years that is $55 a year. according to you.

Come on kk, the average ups freight employee will pay about $4300 over 5 years
$4300 * 12,600 = $54,180,000 <-- is about what the teamsters will receive over 5 years.

amount of dues per------- year Hourly rate
$663---------------------------22.10
$684---------------------------22.80
$706---------------------------23.55
$730---------------------------24.35
$756---------------------------25.20
$783---------------------------26.10

They will easily recoup there $10 million

HBF, if you think I am wrong show us.

You might not agree with what I say, but it is very easy to prove someone wrong when there using numbers to prove a point.

You have been proved wrong over and over on these forums. You never have and never will be man enough to say it. It takes a man to admit they are wrong. Break room lawyer that you are, I'm certain now that you will tell me how wrong I am and want me to show you where you have ever been wrong. I will not respond any farther to your BS lawyering.

The focus should be on what 12,600 employees will get as opposed to what the Union will get......and that's a written and signed contract protecting all of you from UPS, who happen to be bone crushers and make YRC look like your friendly old Aunt when it comes to doing business. Is it everything you wanted and hoped for? Nope...no contract ever is. But to think that you'd do better against UPS on your own is at best delusional.

Great post. Couldn't have said it better. It's not perfect, but it's a start.:1036316054:

I couldn't agree with you more, and have basically said the said thing about UPS.

O,
Good deal. I wasn't trying to be a wise guy. I told someone else in another thread that the Teamsters would live on whether or not they ended up with UPSF employees dues money as although 12,600 new members was great it's still less than even 1% of all Teamsters.

The teamsters do not need ups freight, but I am sure they are looking forward to there new dues though. Not a slam this is a business just like everything else.
