This picture is of my young grasshopper and I after we signed our union cards. Don't we make a swell team. He just finished snatching the pebble from my hand. Now his master shall set him free. Free to pursue a better life. A once bitter non union driver. Now rich with the teachings of his king. Free to roam his terminal at will. He now shall be armed with the wisdom of his teachings. His new found union knowledge will propel him to super star, shop steward status! Yes. My young grasshopper will be the envy of all who strive for shop steward stardom. Armed with a sharp pencil and a keen eye for contract violators, he will roam the dock, through the yard, in the restrooms, ready at a moments notice, to pounce on an unsuspecting violator. With cat like reflexes he attacks. Terminal managers, dispatchers, supervisors alike, are stunned, like so many deer caught in the head lights. Many a combative manager, will soon learn, challenging Overnites' grievances will be a fatal mistake!!!!! Now go my grasshopper. And do your good works. Your new found brotherhood is depending on you! Elvis out and getting silly.....
