FedEx Freight | Not very good service today

I just don't know why it has to be such
a big deal , I make deliverys like this every
day no problem. Get the check , dump the
frt and get out of there.

If it were me .....
I know the check is ready.
Toss it on my shoulder and get rid of it.
Customer is happy and you are done wasting time.

End of story ......

God Lord guys are we that lazy !

I agree if you can just toss it on your shoulder But what if it a heavy skid of ceramic tiles? Do you charge them or do you just take it in to make them happy?

if you don't go the extra mile for the customer, there are plenty of companies that will.
it takes a long time to get a customer and only a few seconds to lose one.

Full Story?

it normally depends on how the customer treats you.normally i just bring the stuff in but if the customer is rude to me and talks down to me like some people do to truck drivers my job is to get it to the tail of the truck only.also as far as the inside delivery charge goes if a driver brings something in that is not an inside delivery and puts foot prints on the carpet or scratches the wall or breaks something the driver will be fired.
for some reason i think there is more to the story then what we are being told and plus i think its weird a customer comes on to an internet site not affilaited with fedex to tell us about it.why not call the center?i think it was also stated the customer said it is ok to double park in front of his place but if a ticket was issued who was going to be responsable?

i was thinking about what this driver was asked to do because i just reread the post. he was asked to double park wich is against the law then he was asked to perform a free service now is a jerk because he wouldn't break the law and followed company policy.i personally can't tell you how many times some customers say you can get a 53 footer in here and when you get there there is not even 40 feet between the dock and the fence. like i said i wasn't there and we are only getting half the story.

You got the full story.
You're reading things into it that are speculation.
I am a driver. There maybe a million reasons why this guy didn't want to bring it inside. Maybe he could have just left it on the curb outside my business. But SOMEONE called and asked particulars about my location and being a driver, I gave him the best user info I could. I have NEVER had ANY driver behave this way. If you saw my place you would agree it was lame for the driver NOT to bring it through the double doors INTO my store. I know what "inside Delivery" means so don't get your knickers in a bind.
As far a double parking is concerned the local cops DO NOT tickect ANY commercial vehicles making deliveries. This is why I encouraged him to just pull up out front.
And being a driver myself, I bend over backwards to help my UPS and Fedex ground guys get their stuff off the trucks and into my store.
And I am I not affiliated with FEDEX because I am a customer? And for your information I have a BOTH a Fedex and Fedex ground account for years.
Finally, what forum should I have posted in? Lady Drivers?:biglaugh:

Called it in...

I completly agree with fxfr8man on the fact that the customer is the reason I can even afford this computer I'm using or have a job. These are the guidelines that I use..... I usually try to get as close to the delivery stop as possible without going around back of buildings or down alleys. I then go into the customer's business and find the person responsible for accepting deliveries. I ask that customer where he or she usually accepts tractor trailer deliveries. If your manager would have told me out front and double parking is ok, I would have told him that is where my truck was located and when he had time to unload me that I would be outside waiting on him to assist me with the delivery. If my customer asks me to carry the freight into their store I will tell them that if I have to carry the frieght into the store myself that there is an inside delivery charge for that, but if we were to go out and help each other bring the freight into the store I don't charge inside delivery fees on that type of delivery. I would however take into consideration if your manager was the only person in the store and your business had customers in it, I would then start unloading the truck myself and if I finished before the manager was done helping your customers well then I would simply ask him for a signature after he verified the piece count on the freight bill. There would be NO inside delivery charge for that delivery. I would not ask that you possibly upset your customers to unload my truck!!

When you heard the driver in the background in the morning in my opinion that is where the unprofessional behavior started. The fact that he wanted you to know he was coming in a 48ft trailer could also be an indication that he is a new driver and a little intimidated manuvering the trailer in tight spots?? Whatever the reason is, it is still unexcusable. I'm SORRY that you had a bad experience with FedEx Freight and I would ask you as a customer of the company that I work for to consider that he was having a bad day and don"t hold his behavior against the rest of us FedEx drivers. Thank you in advance for your compassion in this matter. P.S. If the same driver delivers to you again and acts the same way be sure to contact the center manager of your service center and let him know this is happening. I asure you it will be handled accordingly!!! Thank You Sir for your time and as an associate of FedEx Freight I apologize for his bad behavior!!!!

Thanks for your post! You are a credit to your company and our trade!
I did call the telephone # on the bill-which BTW is a great idea! there were TWO names and numbers as well as the shippers contact info! the lady was most attentitive, polite and thanked me for calling.
I could have NOT called and requested another carrier next time. Yes, my vendor allows me to chose betwen carriers and i MOST always select FEDEX!

Without actually being there and hearing both sides of the story I won't say what was what.

However once I made a delivery to a blind shop, no dock, no rear entrance, parked in parking lot and was asked to bring it in the door and place it on the floor, I did, didn't have them sign for any extras, later I was told they said I tracked their carpet and had to fill out an accident report, yes that's what I said accident due to the customer said they couldn't get the carpet clean.

Sometimes it just doesn't pay to be nice..

LOL...Yea, thats the ticket, call in on the driver...yes, that is how it should be handled...LOL

I'm truly sorry for your bad experience with this delivery. I dont know how many times in the past, especially when I worked at Wilson, that I called a customer and asked if I could get a 60 ft. combo to their location and they would say " oh sure, I get big rigs in here all the time". Well, 45 mins. later, here comes the telephone company to put the phone lines back up. This old boy who made the del. has probably run into this before. I'm sure we all have at some point in time. Not to mention backing out of a dead end street because someone failed to mention that too. I hope that this does not change your mind about us making dels. to you again in the future.

again just because you say the cops are cool and won't issue tickets doesn't mean squat and they won't.as far as where else are you going to post this you don't really want me to tell ya but if it makes you feel better to come on here and take shots at a driver than i am going to assume you were less than friendly to our driver.so what you are a driver you still seem to have the attitude that your better than the driver that was there and as far as there could have been a million reasons why he didn't bring it in heres the best one and the only one that counts if you didn't pay for the service than its not his job to.i don't know or care who you drive for but what if one of your customers asked you to do something that wasn't your job? plus if your a driver ship your freight through your company and you won't have a problem.

Jeff I hope you read this one.... sometimes you can't just go the extra mile for a customer. I usually let them tell me how much I'm going to be willing to do for them by the attitude I'm greeted with when I arrive at the company!! The old do it for them or somebody else will doesn't always work. Just like you read in this post you can't make everybody happy all the time. Some customers will stab you in the back while you're carrying in the freight. :1036316054:

Read the original post GT. The driver was being a Jerk from the moment that This customer heard him talking that morning. If what Hub-City said is true, which I would say it is why would he make it up just to have something to post???? I would have Talked to his center manager that morning before I ever had the driver come to my business. As a customer I would not have let him "deliver his attitude" to my company. If you disagree with this GT that's just to stinkin bad! It's not like I told him to call in on him right now.... I said if he was to do it again, then call in. I think if a driver acts like a jerk twice in a row to a customer odds are he's doing it to other customers and needs to be stopped. So GT would you let him go until he gets fired and then complain that management is a bunch of jerks that did nothing to help fix the driver's attitude? Do not respond to this on the post or we will be at it again on a PM this time. U can count on it!!!!!! Come on man what's your deal????

And all this time I thought you had me on ignore...boy is my face red..LOL

hello hello i got a delivery got a forklift? No, well i got it to the back of the trailer, this is tail gate freight, whats that you want an inside delivery? An inside delivery is considerd inside 1 door and no further, whats that how much? I'll have to call in and see how much, it usually is by the pound. You dont want to pay for inside delivery. You can either help me unload it or it goes back to the terminal.
I got plenty more stops you are holding me up......

Just wanted to ask you how it feels to have someone in your business. I won't say all the nasty things you said to me, if you can remember, I am not playing games either, I am totaly against ratting out my peers, even doing it 3rd party, thats just me though. Remember, if you can, you jumped on me and I defended myself, end of story. I am not mad, never was, its hard for me to get mad at a computer screen, that would be...well, stupid.

That's why I'm not nice. Nice people get the shaft.

I refuse to go in people's houses for this reason, someone always looking to cash in. Farthest I go is the garage, and NO, I aint taking it of the damn pallet.

You want an inside delivery and it doesn't say it on the bill? If the pallet fits through the door, no problem. If not, then screw you.

It's not getting in someones business GT it's called posting your feeling or opinions. As far as the names I suppose you think you were innocent in the name calling argument we had???? I don't think so! I too am against ratting out my peers. However I'm not against having a driver correct his attitude before we lose a customer! If it makes your day GT you may stay in my business and keep me straight. I enjoy the challenge of trying to see things the way you do.....It's out in left field driver??!?!?!?!? Way out there!!!!!

I will have to respectfully disagree with you!!!! If you have to take it off of the skid what's the big deal? I am guessing you must pull a lift gate. I rarely do. If that's your attitude toward customers then I am surprised no one has called and complained. You have to do what you can to an extent to make the customer happy. Breaking down a skid is part of your job if so required!!!!!
