FedEx Freight | Does or will FedEx Freight hire former union employees?

Yes they will hire. I know of former ABF, CF and Yellow drivers & dockworkers working the docks at FXNL. I also know that some current linehaul drivers drive part time for Yellow and Roadway.

Me personally I'd hire an experienced person over one with absolutely no experience regardless of the color of their previous uniform anyday. Were all doing the same job in the long run.

I know you are not saying some "current" linehaul drivers, also drive part time for other
LTL companies

last i heard i thought you couldnt do that, just like you cant work the dock part time at freight for 4hrs then go chuck boxes at ground for 4 hrs, and i hope that they are logging thier hours correct.

FedEx code of ethics talks of "Conflict of Interest" as does any of the big 5.. Rule of thumb has always been don't ask don't tell... this works unless you are in a accident or have some sort of violation while driving a commercial vehicle. If it shows up unreported.. You will probably need high boots.. this would be the case with any carrier I would suppose.

The way I see it is this.. a man has to support his family.. employees on the hourly sector are not going to go around sharing secrets.. as there are really no secrets in this business anymore.

If I see that times are getting hard and I need to support my family, unfortunately I am in a situation to where there is a zero tolerance for working for a competitor, I think I would go to the airport and work at one of the restaraunts as a waiter (I have a friend that does this on Sat and Sun and makes $600 in tips.. $400 of this in cash!) 37.50 an hour aint to shabby!

I was told all compensated work has to be reported and goes against your hours. We had a road driver that had a grass cutting business on the side until he went to sleep and rolled a set over a few years ago.

As an X CFer I applied @ Fed Ex and firmly believe my application was tossed in the trash. My X F.O.M. was there when I applied. BTW, He knew- I was never late, spotless record, honest, BUT I was union. Just my opinion

thats what i was thinking...if you have to log all compensated work. how in the world do you log x amout of hour driving at one LTL company and then x amount at another. the company(s) finding out would be the least of anyones problem if something unforeseen should happen i would be more worried about the pently from DOT :hide:

Sure can, EVERYDAY!!! It gets worse with everyone they hire. They bring there buddies onboard and now you have got a pair to deal with, 2 on 1 sometimes its even more.:hide:

well that makes up my mind the rooster suckers were bad enough at yellow when you had the union to help you.the demise of yellow in columbus can be traced back to bringing that US verses THEM attitude in by a former roadway man yellow put incharge at columbus.I hope you don't hire any of those Idiots for your new terminal expecialy any named Jon, Moe or :chairshot:Derick :chairshot:

With the trouble some terminals are facing right now. I know 6 terminals that have almost all road and city drivers that are ready to sign, so I would say that you are going to have to make a great impression for them to even consider you. Good Luck.

After the major screwing Yellow put on their employees at COL, who are pretty much out of job and has no chance of ever being call back. I was curious if FXFE hires former union workers.

Not to worry they hired me. And I came form Yellow and Usf. So just apply if you find what you are looking for.

this is true you have to report all hours you are compensated for.thats why, if you want to make extra money do it under the table.i started with af in 1996 as a city driver and only recieving 22 hour aweek, not driving but outbound dock and sweeping. so i got a partime job and i was told i was to report my hour to af.so i quite my partime and drove to bmm to work all week and stay in a hotel, and be with my family only 2 day.thank god a road openning came available and i had to do this for a year.

I was with AF for 5 years. I watched the CCM at my barn who came from Preston toss several apps in the trash just because they were union guys. Then one day BANG he hires two ex-preston drivers. At that time it was up to the CCM and most likely still is. Funny alot of the management at AF filtered in from Preston in the mid to late 90's. Seemed like they were taking care of their buddies and handing out jobs left and right even if they didnt have a clue. I think that all started with Pat R. and ran down hill. But when it came to drivers it was a crap shoot.
