Yellow | Do you think a no vote will close them down?

Will a NO vote have thr effect of shutting the companies down?

  • NO

  • Total voters

So now we should disband and act as if we have no union or leaders as the nons? That doesn't make sense to me...If this hurts the union from a yes vote then Hoffa aND jOHNSON WILL ANSWER FOR IT...IF YA VOTE AGAINST IT ALL FUTURE UNION GUYS WILL PAY.

Not at all. We are acting like a union should. We all have a say in our vote. Good or bad, lie or truth, we will all know the outcome in a few weeks.

Been a teamster since 84, with a brief stint away from P&D, 5 year OTR and somehow this POS union lost my WD card so I had to start over in 89, 3 1/2 years as a casual for yellow, been treated like ::shit:: by co. & pos union ever since.
They gave you a copy of your withdrawell card..where was yours? Why do you stay?

You don't think they would lie? Go listen to Tyson Johnson's audio from the last 2 concessions and the last contract..........So many lies there............. Then if you are still not convinced, Go listen or read the company's quarterly reports........... More Lies!!
Even if they do lie..they pay for it if found out...but if ya don't listen and vote 'no' after being warned repeatedly 30,000 or so pay..They are the officials..They'll pay for their actions..But standiong alone is standing alone...Did ya join to stand alone with no leaders in times lkke this?

A "No" vote shuts them down now. A "Yes" vote shuts them down later, after the creditors have milked a little gravy from the employees. I really don't see how anyone can look at the financials on this company and think that there is even a remote chance that they can pay down the debt, replace their antiquated fleet, and become a viable, profitable, company when they are competing against companies that can subsidize their freight operations with package and air. YRC has NO pricing power. Even with the previous concessions they can't turn a profit. EBITDA positive, yawn, close but no cigar. That being said, vote yes and YRC's totally inept executive suite will have to take the blame. Vote No and it will be "the greedy, lazy, Teamsters cut their own throats". It's a tuff call. By the way, I'm retired and got a ballot. I really wasn't expecting one. I'd rather not vote and let the guys still working decide this. Is it true that an unreturned ballot counts as a yes vote?

Especially, when all the bank investors of YRC, are all from the Bilderberg Group. Definately, vote NO.

You should rethink that SuperCourse...being retired and all...a NO vote on this will probably go a long way to ending the penison plan...and that definetly affects you...

It is not the concessions vote that is going to cause YRC to close, it is the 1.2 billion in debt, and that isn't going away, no matter what the vote is: if YRC can not get rid of $600 million in debt soon, they will close either way. They can't concession themselves out of debt. Even if they made $50 million a quarter in profits(which is a very liberal figure), after the concessions, they couldn't pay off the debt(principle) in the next 5 years.

The work force will be demoralized and most will be hanging on for a pay check and benefits. Unless they take some drastic measures, such as closing and combining all the company's under one flag. I don't see how they make it.

They pulled off a miracle last winter with the debt for equity swap, can they pull another rabbit from the hat? Only time will tell.

I agree 100%, a yes vote puts the blame on the company, a no vote will place the blame on the Teamsters.

Oh you have no idea, they will come back for more givebacks? until all the yes men eventually turn to No voters then they can blame the teamster

For sure. Why not come back to the well. As long as they keep getting what they want by threatening with a shutdown? Everybody has a limit of how low they will go. The Yes voters just haven't reached their limit.....yet.

The real question is what if you're wrong. If you get a majority no vote and they do shut down, then what? You get paid zero dollars.

The vote only makes a difference in the timeline before the company declares bankruptcy, then padlocks the gates.
There is not a buyer for the company- There are no more banks(that I know of) willing to give it money. Since the reverse split, the stock has nose dived. They keep asking for concessions because they are still losing money.
Why would the vote matter ?

There is a buyer for the company. Guaranteed!!! Just hide and watch! Do you think the lenders would approve this latest proposal just to drag out the inevitable? Keep this thread in mind for the near future. If the proposal is approved by the membership then watch someone come out of the woodwork! If I'm wrong I will come back here to this thread and tell you I was wrong.

I know I'm just an uneducated truck driver that's never been to college & I don't have a paper saying I know my gazentas.
But I know this, a weeks vacation from roughly half the employees & some work rule changes don't gazenta 1.5 billion no matter how you slice that up to try to make this place profitable.

Isn't there a snap back clause in the event the company is bought? If so, a yes vote should have no bearing on a buyout.

and a snap back of the 30M a month pension payments in the event of a no win

not to mention JP Morgan backin out on the $200M that is due next month

the next vote will be a strike authorization vote

there won't be any company to strike but you could still picket when they close

just be sure no one crosses the picket line

A " NO " vote will not shut them down .... yet ... but YRC needs the economy to make a big comeback for the LTL Companies to be at or near capacity in the next year at the max. Not very likely so if it passes or not .. they'll have about a year to make it at the most.
