FedEx Freight | Full Time Positions Forced to Part time at FedEx West

Jack knife I called yellow yesterday and they said to wait tell next week. So I will leave when I start over there. Just a couple of more days.

I'm telling u pickle.. think b4 u leap....The grass always seems greener on the other side until u get over there.....THINK ABOUT IT LONG AND HARD. Lots of layoffs during the winter!!

Well, as you know, we have another Conway guy here. M. Moss. He must have learned his lesson well, because he is hated quite heartaly over here. Why can't Conway keep their trash, and what makes Fred think they would be worth a flying f**# over here? One of the drivers I run with used to work at Conway, and so far, he has laid this out like a roadmap.:hide:

Don't want to intrude on your board but.. If he is correct so far, what did he say about purchase transportation? This will destroy morale worse than you would imagine.. It gets worse here every day. Some clown who smells like a farm has to back up to our dock (usually takes a while), to have the Hazmat pulled off because his crack outfit does not require it.. It will only get worse..

Watch the klown remarks, I shower everyday!!:hide:

What is a class one center? Never heard that before. Good luck to you guys.:hide:

FILTH the Klown :1036316054:

Class 1 centers would be the major hubs.
Class 2, 3 and 4 are the smaller terminals.
Cost of living wages are paid by region, but the
Class 1 terminals usually have higher hourly wages,
because they tend to be located where the higher cost of living is.

Old mr m thinks purchase transportation is a fine option. We have kept U S EXPRESS in business in these slow times. I would hazzard a very educated guess of 75 to 100 53' vans daily. Of course every one of these loads are in "unbalanced lanes", meaning we have no freight coming out of there. Cities like Sac, Wht, Sea, Bse, Dal, and Den. Not only that, we load them up for backhaul on occasions. Drivers stay home, runs get cut, but hey, we put people first, just not our people.:nutkick:

good luck bud, but i would think about it before jumping ship. you have a full time job and bennies if you leave for yellow here are some questions i would ask
1.are you going to be full time?
2.if so for how long?
3.how many drivers are on layoff? (system wide)
4.with yellow pushing to pull triple tlrs what will that mean to low man on the pole

not trying to bash yellow or the union i have respect for both of them, i don't know your situation and you have to do what you thinks best (just look at the big picture)

Will jack they made this place a hub and they are getting 1,200 bills a night. Also they don't pull triples down her in Texas. Only sets of 2. And they have no one on lay off over here. They said they need to put on at least 13 full time city driver's.

Hey Sour, instead of jumping ship and going to Yellow. Stay here and make a stand. Do the right thing and call the local in your area and see what they have to offer. Like "two for one" years vesting, up to ten years with this company.

Like I said to jeep if we are all going to make a stand as 1 then I'll stay and do what I can. I wish this place was U....n

hey jeep jerk they all ready did it i guess u wernt here when they forced dock help to get cdls or quit. made shutle runs drivers doing dock work

That is how it started here. It WAS used to eliminate mt miles, but is now used both directions. My terminal in Pa, now loads one for another Pa terminal 270 miles away. It is only a matter of time before the only freight on Conway trailers, pulled by Conway drivers, is the next day hub freight. It seems the only road block to this is not having enough drivers to work the docks at the FAC's. They have tried the part-timers in the past, but is does not work here..

union ?
what would the union do ?
they can't stop a company from down sizing
go on strike , do a work stopage,
they'll find someone from swift who would love to have your job
and at half the cost of you

something doesnt add up....from the sounds of it and only part of it, it would seem that things are changing to be more like the company formally known as FXFE..what should and will happen is that any of the full time office/dock with stay that way..they will be grandfathered in to the system..hubs will be the only ones allow to hire full time dock from here on out small center will go to part time help, shuttle run drivers will have to work the dock at night while at the hub..this is only for those that driver less then 400 miles round trip and those that run 400 to 470 i believe will have the option to if they so please..anyone who runs over that round trip will be classed as a Hturn (hub turn) these driver will not have to work the hub dock due to there long runs and early gate times...

I remember when Mr. M was promoted to head of west and that was some time ago but i have only heard complaining about start up now...why is that? If anyone read the memo about the change it said he would no longer have that postion, and would have to take on a new role in company so lets not forget this change is affecting him also...Now i am not saying this is fact or fiction but my take on what little truth i think i may have read from some of the post..from the sounds of it the changes out west have turned in a very large very bad game of telephone by the time it gets to the last person its never even close to what the first person said so i ll wait and see what really happens...good luck to you guys trust me change isnt all bad:smilie_132:

This is no game of Telephone. They are not hiring full time employees and they are reducing office staff hours and benefits. I will reserve judgment
whenever possible to see what really transpires. So far, what I have seen, sucks.

Ok, what our people were told was this. If you want to be a full time employee, you must go out and get your CDL. If you can successfully do that, we will incorporate you into the city board, at the bottom, regardless of your seniority. Oh yeah, here in SAC of the 60 of you that are affected, we might be able to place 20 of you. Now for several of these affected people that each have over 20 years with the company, I don't think going to the bottom of the board fits the definition of will be grandfathered. Or did all of our managers out here misunderstand the memo or were they speaking in tongues during the conference call? This is what is so hard to swallow, so many good loyal employees just thrown under the bus.

Look 4 the ----- label?

Good points. My question is UPS is not treating their employees like this?
My guess it's because they have a "U" in thier name! What do "U" think?

Good employees thrown under the bus.....YEP sounds just like FedEx Freight East.....Welcome aboard driver. It surely isn't ant better over here:1036316054:

Hey, man. I'm at a loss as to where to post this question into a thread like this, so I'll just just ask and see if it stays here or not.

Over here on the west coast, there is an organizing drive going on. It's pretty solid. How about over in the East?

Is that a question I can ask in this thread?

Who was saying change is good? Some is but this conway mentality is not the way to go.I'm sorry but these people have taken that model and moved it over here.I don't know why you'd treat expierenced people that made our companies what they are and tell them take it or leave.Or in the case of sac.offer 20 positions.I know several people that are great loyal employees and because of health or other personal issues cannot be class A drivers. What does this mean for them?:hide:
