FedEx Freight | Full Time Positions Forced to Part time at FedEx West

Stinky

Hey, man. I'm at a loss as to where to post this question into a thread like this, so I'll just just ask and see if it stays here or not.

Over here on the west coast, there is an organizing drive going on. It's pretty solid. How about over in the East?

Is that a question I can ask in this thread?

Check out the Union/Non-Union debate board. Lots of info there.

!!!

Well, they did it today. They told our few remaining full time dock workers that if they wanted to remain full time, they will have to become drivers or become part time and lose their bennies.

This is a BS thing to do to hard working people that have been loyal to the company for, in some cases, 18 years or more.

They are just begging for the union.

I just don't see how Fedex didn't take organization into the consideration when they were having their top level meetings discussing the new CDL requirements. I heard from someone in FTA who said they are going to reduce the amount of hostlers to a total of 6 I believe. 2 on the AM and 4 on the PM shift. The all the drivers are going to have to hook their own sets in FTA soon. For the downturn in our freight levels it makes sense from a business standpoint but it is IMO going to cause a lot of angry people...

Seems like you finally said something that makes a lot of sense.
Either that or the management does not fear the U.

You got that right.
We should all just quit and find another job soon.
Let management handle the freight themselves.

They certainly don't care about what the "people" feel. We're not real to them anyway.

To be safe, it should take you 20 minutes to hook a set. And if there is cupping on the gear's tires, damn! You gotta deadline it and rehook!

Wouldn't want to be unsafe now would we?

I don't think the union will go over to well in the east even though the company is treating us like $hit. There's too many brainwashed young employees that don't know what the union can do for the employees. They only believe what management tells them. You would think that they could see how management would have a very bias opinion. :1036316054:

Who was saying change is good? Some is but this conway mentality is not the way to go.I'm sorry but these people have taken that model and moved it over here.I don't know why you'd treat expierenced people that made our companies what they are and tell them take it or leave.Or in the case of sac.offer 20 positions.I know several people that are great loyal employees and because of health or other personal issues cannot be class A drivers. What does this mean for them?:hide:

You know who you have to call. Your local.

Atvnut all you need to do is start at 1 terminal. And then the next and so on. That happen to El paso Employees at Usf Reddaway. When Reddaway took us over they new that El paso was not union so they started to let go of a lot of people. And so on. Then the employees got mad called the hall and signed cards. And saved all of there jobs. I seen it happen first hand so it can be done. Strength in numbers remember that.

Now i am not saying this is fact or fiction but my take on what little truth i think i may have read from some of the post..from the sounds of it the changes out west have turned in a very large very bad game of telephone by the time it gets to the last person its never even close to what the first person said so i ll wait and see what really happens...good luck to you guys trust me change isnt all bad:smilie_132:

Class 1, non hub service center is reducing all of their full time dock workers to a max of 5 hours per day. And the part-timers are pretty much gone already. I have no idea how that works for their benefits.

We are slow. /thread.

and of course you read that memo. :sadwavey:

Sure is a lot of censorship and people being banned here of late.

more like people were asked to follow the rules and they didnt...jeff gives us an inch we all take a mile then when the sh*t hits the fan, no one wants to take their punishment :Bondage:

I'll be glad to ban you .
We back to that again? I was referring specifically to Stinky, banned after only 5 posts and for asking whether or not a specific subject was ok in this thread? There were more posts at least that provacative in this thread.

Not right

I hear that in northern calif. full time employee's at fedex west will be forced to become part timers. If anyone can shed some light on this subject please reply.
Thx.

How can they do that? Isn't that against your labor contract?
