I had a post on the newbie thread but only got two replies, hopefully since this thread is for FedEx you men can help me out. I have a CDL-A with doubles/triples and hazmat endorsement. I drove for Coca-Cola delivering to Supermarkets. I moved up to sales and then left to sell other products, been doing this about ten years. I am tired of chasing unrealistic sales numbers and begging for orders. There was an opening at the FedEx Freight barn in my town, I applied on the website but have not heard anything. The job is still on the site. Will they take a look at me since I have not been driving truck for a while? What does the pay look like, overtime available? I have a clean driving record. Any suggestions would be appreciated:bowdown:

In my opinion deliverydriver I would say they would probably look at you because we take dock associates and half a$$ train them and stick them in a truck, so I would say they might make you do some extra training but they should take a look at ya.....Good luck driver!!!!!

I worked for Coke a long time ago, I hated going to the grocery stores and play stock boy

If it has been more than a week since you filled out the online application, go to the center and ask to talk to the HR or CM. Go tomorrow. Wait until 10:30-11:30 a.m. or 1:30-3:30 p.m. If the opening is still there, a face with the application means a lot.

Should start around $17.50 or so and top about $21 in about three years. Don't count on OT. Come fall and mid-late winter you may have a tough time coming close to 40, and you may be sitting at home, especially if the economy is still struggling. Just depends on the center you are working at.

if you have been in sales for the last 10 years without driving a tractor trailer you probably won't be accepted as a driver. If I remember right you must have 1 year recent driving experience. If you don't qualify but you do have a cdl then they may hire you as a part time dock worker. After being a part time dock worker for 6 months you will be able to go through the dock to driver program if there are positions available. This is how it works at my barn. I think the part timers start at 15.xx an hour with no benefits, but they do get the quarterly incentive payout

This is the thing I'm only going by what I know. They first try to hire with in first. Then If the can't get anybody with in the company like someone that wants to transfer or a driver apprentice. Then they will hire off the street. That's how I got on I new someone with in. And he help me get on. Plus I was at the right place at the right time.
