XPO | haz-mat spill in tomah

any body know about the toxic spill and how it was handled by the great f.o.s. crew in tomah a couple days ago at the xen doors?:chairshot:

First of all ... it was not a toxic spill. It was a poison inhilation spill. The worst kind. They better hope no one got sick. Especially when they tried handling themselves. I understand it took them about 3 hours to call Linehaul for some direction. AL you made a smart move moving away from guiding the mother ship of XTM. Good luck at XSM. I wish the new TM from the east lots of LUCK dealing with these goofball fos's and the internet p*on star you hired. Anyone seen my banana? Pat ... your days of sweeping more stuff under the rug in your office, which has a mound already, your days hiding and acting like an arrogant fool are numbered. Time to dismember the band. Bring in some new blood. Fast. The drivers that bid Tomah now will not be back next year. :smilie_132:

well ive been told by one of the drivers that it was toxic.he said it took a half hour to get any kind of answer from g.o.Still if it was poison, inhalation haz. half hour????? i think at least 10 people could have had some real damage done! funny they can take a c.p.r. course over the weekend but how many fos's would'nt know what to do incase of a real!hazard spill??? Dont you think they would be requird to?in that position im putting my life on the line hoping this st%$&d guy or girl knows what the h^$% is going on!! These guys stayed on the dock and tried to keep people out of harms way when in fact they should have been in the f#$#ing parking lot till someone had an answer!!!:chairshot:Comon con-way what the h$%% is going on in those greedy little heads of yours!! Im sorry for the language ive used or if ive offended anyone but this just Chaps My Hide!!

We've all had the training, it's universal...Isolate the area, or the trailer, remove everyone to the parking lot, grab a coso, call your safety manager...3-5 minutes tops for the whole thing...For the life of me, I do not understand what is so hard about that...don't stay and smell it, don't bathe in it, don't be a hero...let the spacesuits handle it...it sucks when it happens, but it is part of our business...

Sounds like confused and stupid handled the spill .. It does not take 30 minutes to get an answer from G.O. for a spill of that kind. In my opinion for what I have read hear and what I have heard from other sources that the FOS of that sector as well as another one handled this situation POORLY .. It was gross negligence on Tomah's part here.

GROSS NEGLIGENCE - Failure to use even the slightest amount of care in a way that shows Recklessness or willful disregard for the safety of others.

i was not there, all this is hear say, so i will not and can not reply on this matter, lets just keep the freight moving!

Gonna have to agree with this statement. I blew up a Haz-Mat tote with the tip of a fork once... It sure as hell was not managements fault.. We do have a Haz-Mat bay where all Inhalation is docked till all operations are over. Once all is done, we determine where it can be loaded. Maybe this would prevent some incidents.. But, it was not the FOS's fault I blew up the tote...

I think the point was how it was handled after it happened..nobody mentioned how it happened..regardless, stay organized, contact the SAFETY DEPT, not the GO, take everyone to the parking lot, quick roll call, account for everyone, let the properly trained people deal with it..

Hey, i Know you are all well experience truck driver, truck owners and frieght company, but i am yet to get one,i will love to know maybe you can help me out getting one.But it is obvious that professional driver are very scarce...help me out with one and i will be happy.

yes indeed (how it was handled) is the key point.VERY POORLY!!!

Sounds to me like someone needed to pick up the cell phone and call 911 and get the professionals like now in a case like this. Just a thought, hope no one got sick over this.

I was in Tomah last night and I asked the FOS about this incident. He said that the spill involved a type of glue (smelled like paint or the old testors model cement) that he called the 800 # on the MSDS right away and was told as long as it was well ventilated there was no problem. Prevent prolonged exposure.....etc.....
