Box, read the message that George made above you. Do not remove or add anything to it. Please understand that this is nothing personal, just business. Myself and others have for a long time tried to open the workers eyes to what was going on with this company from the top down and the bottom up. This is part of being in business, I for one will fight with the boys at the top, until I`m dead. This little fine is nothing to the company, but it takes away money the could have been better spent to regain the place in the business world that we as a group made happen. What a shame it is that there will be more to come in fines and exposure before all of this is over. A old saying that goes something like this--screw me once--shame on me--screw me twice--you will be screwed till I die. As you very well know, things can hidden for a time, but in the end, it will always be found out. :USA::USA::USA::USA:
 
Reread the article...."alleged"...."settled"....It's done, nothing proven, nothing more to come...a unit we sold off 4 years ago...you think we are the only freight company with these issues, think again..It would have cost us 10 times this to litigate it....Fight to the death if you want, I got better things to do, that's all I'm saying...
As you said, it's a part of being in business...

THAT"S UNHEARD OF!!! :mad:QUICK, call 20/20 or Dateline. or somebody! This has never happened before in the history of international business!

This Principle is not debateable regardless of the circumstances, location, or position of alleged participants. The fact that hands have been slapped and fines have been levied are no defense.
 
Of course it doesn't make it better...I am on your side here, just don't see this tipping the scales at, say, the ENRON level...I think Prima's extremely sarcastic post is kind of right where I am with this...I think we have other, more important things to concern ourselves with is all..

Thank you Boxboss for showing me your mindset. History does repeat when people do not learn the first time. I agree with you about this company not being the only one that does things that are questionable, and in the same token, I have to question there motive. I hope you stay up on that curl and circumstances do not change the flow of the water below you. We agree to disagree on this subject, have a nice holiday.:USA::gathering::USA:

Very well put. That part was just the start. As for as things being settled, I really think that it is far from the end of things being settled. Plan on a long time in the future. I know you and you know me, let us leave it at that and let us agree to disagree. I am going to enjoy the holiday and hope you do also. That is all I have to say on this subject.:USA::USA::USA::USA:
 
There is a degree of larceny in all hearts, and we all know individuals that from time to time have, shall I say, done some shady things, companies as well, to foster their business within an uneven playing field. As long as shady activities do not hurt an individual/s we accept what is done, it is when and individual or company is caught do we condemn, and proclaim our purity.

At our terminal there is not one sole, from the SCM down the line, and I know them all, that does not break the rules or try to get away with something on a daily basis, and I do not pass judgment or act, except when the activity effects my position or well being.

Having been in sales I have met some purchasing agents who will not budge unless you grease their palms and there is no way around it; This is not to say I like it, it's just a fact of life: So be it.

In the service, many many years ago if it were not for the shady undertaking of our supply sergeant our unit could not have gotten some of the items we dearly need or desired, normal channels did not work.

If Con-way on the international stage must play the business game as the rest of the world does, I have no problem with that.

The issues of pension, health benefits, personal time off and our de facto union environment should be our concerns.
 
Next time you get caught cheating on your time card, or trip card, inform the company that in the future you will try and keep your financial numbers in order. See how that works out for you, and then get back to me. Teamster Elvis out....
 
Hey, i Know you are all well experience truck driver,truck owners and frieght company,but i am yet to get one,i will love to know maybe you can help me out getting one.But it is obvious that professional driver are very scarce...help me out with one and i will be happy.
 
Hey.....does this mean that they will be taking down one of those hanging things out on the dock, you know, the one with the "I" word on it??????? Maybe at least stop with the constant "values" rhetoric.....??? Just wondering...........
