What is the policy on company cars when you lay over?

Some say by all means use them , others refuse to let you.

If a terminal has a "drivers car" available,I dont see a problem. It would be alot cheaper than bobtailing.

Why were on the subject, the van in Valdosta looks like someone uses the inside of it for a garbage can.

Yes, the cars are to be used to go back and forth to the motel, for food, etc. That was the reason for placing them in a terminal. Just as a9faninnc pointed out, it is much cheaper and safer than bobtailing.

If you get to a terminal and they have an assigned road drivers car, and you ask to use it and are told no, please feel free to give me a call. So that we can get this corrected.

Also, just as a9faninnc mentioned about the van being dirty in Valdosta, please get with the manager and or supervisor at the terminal, so that they can take care of the problem.

If you make someone in supervision aware of these problems, and it is not corrected, with in a day or so, please advise me of this as well.

Thanks Mark

I will make sure the van in Valdosta is cleaned but don't hesitate to tell a manager when you find one dirty that it needs to be cleaned. As Leadfoot Ultra states, if you communicate that one is not clean and it reamins that way, please let him know.

I don't intend to sound "nit-picking",and maybe it was just a rare occasion that the inside of the van looked that bad...However,if one of our trucks went up to Fishersville in that condition,im sure appropriate actions would take place, and rightly so.

In the future,I will be sure to bring it to the supervisors attention.Thanx

We all have an obligation to take care of the equipment, no matter what type or how old it may be. No problem here. I would have probably blown a gasket if I had seen how bad it really was. That might have something to do with no one wanting to drive it.

well DUR terminal denied me the other day(would like to elaborate on that), and CNV is known to never let drivers use the car("thats the TM's car"), i have been denied there on a few occasions, also i asked to use it in CHS once and was denied("ah, take your tractor"), so if there is a unwritten rule that powers that be at certain terminals should know then in my humble opinion it should be changed from unwritten to written. :smilie_132:

I was advised today that Memphis has sold their company car. Its only 12 or so miles one way to the hotel anyway.

I agree that using the company car to got to the motel or run around is much safer and cheaper for the co. than bobtailing...I for one am thankful we have the option :)
Btw theres one cc in clt that we have to watch out for: the lights turn off unannounced and nothing u do makes em come back on! I forget what unit it was... u shoulda seen my face when that happened to me going down that unlit road along the terminal! O.O

Drivers Car in Charlotte

One,

I talked with Jody G in Clt this morning about the issue with the headlights on the car, they were already aware of the problem and have been trying to figure out what is happening. They have been trying to get it to duplicate the problem, but so far no luck. They are going to keep trying to figure out why this is happening. Thanks for letting us know.
