You guy"s need to get ready for all the changes
before it is over with your terminals will have more
runs under 200 miles so they can work you on the
dock for 5 to 6 hours a nite then turn you back to your terminal........
I bet before it is all done it will look like the line Haul they are giving us out west all turns and dock work for line haul.
Any word on the street about DLS?
The only other part that was said is they want these relay points up and running frt thur them by Dec of this Yr before the new bids come out.
Talked to our TM earlier this week. He said these runs would start in January with the next bids. Don't know which is correct. Either way I feel for you guys that may have to move, sell homes, change schools for the kids etc.
they have placed yards in
Sidney,Ne
Grand Island,Ne
They want 20 drivers now in Sidney and 10 in Grand Island
Just guessing but they are in the right points to be relay points.
Denver is losing runs how many not known I don't like whats going on
but I see why Fedex is doing it though and it only makes since. Our question here is WHY did they ever start Denver Linehaul up and the only thing I see is that they could place drivers here faster back when L/H got started. Since the two from Fla came we have not heard anymore or seen any paperwork on whats going on so all the rest of this is just a guessing game. The only other part that was said is they want these relay points up and running frt thur them by Dec of this Yr before the new bids come out.
I was just confirming what you posted midnight rider, after talking to management. JJ (grime reaper) is due in our terminal first of this week so will see what bad news he has. They are hiring alot of wild teams in SBR so maybe all teams will become WILD? Never run wild myself. Wasnt that what Watkins did? Wonder what will be like with two single guys teamed up.
Had our meeting out here on the west coast. Was told next year the teams will be phased out. Said some terminals will lose bids this next bid. Some due to frieght levels and some to relays. Heard Cinn and Harrisburg will lose some. Asked why after last years "ra ra" speech on how National was going to show Frieght how teams can do it. Was told Frieght cant keep track of the freight when the teams are leaving early arriving late. Also I guess the people in Cinn and HBG saw a couple of slides showing how moving the denver line up to the 80 corridor saves 120 miles per leg from KC to SLC save lots of money. blah blah blah. And if you dont live within 2 hours of terminal you will have to move closer. They are hiring contractors out of San Berdo not wild teams. We will use contractors like frieght does to cover the unbalanced lanes.Oh yeah Merry Christmas
Here's whats up. Probably within three years we will become freight. Otherwise why go to single driver operation from a team operation? Redundancy?? This will not be painless. There will be cuts. They did this to AF and Viking freight after they bought them.

also change is a necessary evil for the growth of the company. Its safe to say that the shipping environment is completely different from 5 years ago so to stay on top the company MUST change. It is painful for some areas and less for others. I would rather work for a company that is changing with the climate rather than doing the same thing and eventually sinking due to stubborn on old business tactics. Because in the end I will still have a paycheck in my hand to provide for my family!
