ODFL | Maybe a rumor

research R&L carriers and you will find they are doing fine.Fedex already has two freight divisions and don't need a third.OD would not buy a carrier as large as r&l especially now.Bad Rumor

If R&L is doing fine, then why is it that the some of dedicated teams runs are given to lease drivers (paramount) and some of the dedicated team drivers are sometimes cut?
Does OD have contract or lease drivers like R&L?

In other words, things are fine for R&L but may not be for their drivers then.

Dont think that earl would be interested in buying a company that pretty much covers the same areas as we do already, everyone that they've bought so far to my knowledge has been in an area that we didn't cover and i think fed ex is running out of names for another division so lets see someone just starting crap would be my guess.

Haven't heard nothing around here about it. I remember awhile back about R&L rumors, DHL rumors, and we do you ask us about the inner workings of R&L and their drivers, I'd go to R&L's board and check there you might get the information that you are looking for.

It seems like the son of the founder of R+L is much more interested in becoming a real estate tycoon than owning a freight company R+L realty owns more dock space than anyone in the U.S. I agree that it wouldn't make a lot of sense to buy R+L we are everywere they are, and a lot of places they aren't. Seems like some pretty unhappy people on their forum .

Not even close to ODs business plan ever in the past. I do not think the drivers at R & L would flock into ODs bottom of the board. To big to much cash involved. Someone probably seen that both carriers had green and white trucks and assumed it would be a good buy out deal.

Anyone heard anything about DHL pulling out of the US?

DHL up the road from me is closing, about 8000 people out of a job. DHL bought out airborne express not to long ago now all those people are screwed. Apparently UPS has a contract of some sort to pick up the slack (around here anyway) cause they're adding on to the local hub like there's no tomorow to do what DHL can't. A lot of people are pi$$ed around here don't understand how DHL was able to buy airborne in the first place.:furious:

You know I think DHL Air plays a important role. If not for them what company would compete with Fed X express. OD seems to support DHL express without whom would there be any other real viable competition. As far as DHL buying out OD only the owners would be able to make that call. No guess on my part if that were to happen.

At our place about a year or so ago I noticed we were sending our overnight stuff to corporate UPS,they stopped using DHL I don't know if it was service/price related, Or just to stop stoking the rumor mill about us and them.

RLR Realty

I just want to clarify this one for everyone. The majority of the properties listed are R&L Terminals. Other terminals that are up for lease were acquisitions. R&L bought the majority of Preston terminals when they closed and they purchased terminals from a carrier that was out of Colorado that closed ( can't remember thier name). If you click on whatever state you are located in and know there is a local terminal it will show up as not for lease.
