can any of you guys give us none conway speaking people a list of what terminals are closing ?
Moartsghost: some of the things you say are close. Some are way off. We have 10 drivers losing there jobs. 19yrs, 18 Yrs, 15 yrs, 12 yrs, 10 yrs, and the rest with less that 9 yrs. They have no where to go unless they transfer across country. Then they don't dovetail they start at the bottom of the board.
Next the places they are closing most are owned by the company. Mine is. and it is less than 5 yrs old 2 others in my area are less than 10 yrs old. xmf is a new building xsn is not leased.
Posting a full list of terminals is not a smart thing to do... Basically it is giving the competition free information. There is already going to be enough fighting to "steal" our freight with this announcement, they don't have all of the information and we should not provide our competition all of it. Make them work if they want to try.
Also they are part of internal company documents/information posting of which is against the TB TOS (if memory serves)
Is it just me, or is most of this post incorrect?Moartsghost: some of the things you say are close. Some are way off. Thank you for inserting some sane comments in this thread that seems to be turning into a gloom and doom scenario that it just isn't.Just a little info guys...
Every DSR will be given the option to relocate to another service center.... If a DSR leaves it will be due to personal choice not job elimination...
If you are an FOS,CSR or SCM at one of the 40 locations is where the positions are in jeopardy. There are not going to be a the same number of CSR/FOS and SCM positions...
Also every location that will be closed was a leased facility, meaning We didn't own them so we can walk away without having vacant property just sitting...
I My thoughts and prayers are with everyone who is impacted by this move.
I would ask that nobody freak out about this change. It is not going to be simple or painless but it will benefit every remaining employee overall. It will save upwards of 30 million dollars a year while keeping DSR levels the same or higher overall. (No paying the rent or 40 SCM salaries)
Again, Good luck and my prayers to all those impacted and don't hesitate to PM me if you have concerns.

Well I hate to say it... but maybe the company should have evaluated a 700 million dollar purchace of a over the road line haul company
Well, I am going to take a pass on comments from anyone referring to themselves as Martha Stewart, who , let's see, did time for, what was it, ...uh, unscrupulous financial dealings...
And I love all the doomsayers that are coming out of the woodwork now....Where were you before the announcement..?? Oh, waiting in the wings, I see...You saw it coming, it was only a matter of time, the union would have saved you, you guys should have listened...I have been watching this almost comically for 48 hours now...
So, there is nothing funny about this...many people are being displaced, some let go...traumatic, yes, tragic, sorry, not going to go that far...good people are involved, some have justifiable arguments about why they shouldn't be let go. And I truly hope ALL survive the adjustments with the best possible results...
I have had this happen to me before, I know how it feels, and I had my pity party, and I cried the blues...for about 2 weeks, when my wife reminded me that we had 2 small children and I needed to recover and get on with it...and I did...as will you...I wish you nothing but the best, and hope you recover...
Folks, when you look at the facts, when you watch the video, it is hard, hard to think that Con-way is doing this...But, I have known your president for quite awhile, and I know that I trust him when he makes these tough decisions...If I didn't, I would feel like many who are struggling tonight...But this man agonized over this decision..I have seen him at his presidential best, and I have seen him in uniform breaking freight, when he felt it was required...He knows who keeps the wheels of this company turning, and that is why it took as long as it did to come to this decision....
He is the type of man that if something has 100 angles to be looked at first, he will look at 110, just to be sure...he is methodical, precise, and does everything with purpose, and has an edge about him that everyone who works WITH him should be grateful for...
As the dust clears, what we have is ALL of our customers not skipping a beat, getting the same superior service they pay for without interruption, some buildings closed that were , quite frankly, entirely too close to others, which may cause some displaced people to simply turn a different direction on the highway to go to work now, it helps secure an additional 30 million PER YEAR savings in a time when frugality is of the utmost importance, and it saves the jobs of 75% of the people who's buildings are closing...
What do you have to compare it to..?? Take a moment to study the situations being faced by others in our industry...What is comical to me is that on almost all the other threads, look who is getting the blame for doing nothing at those companies, and driving the boat into the ocean nose first...
Then think to yourself, "what if we had done nothing?" What would have happened?" We will never know, because something has been done...It is easy to criticize, until you are the ones facing the facts...
You work for a company that busts their butts to stay ahead of the curve, to not allow themselves to get backed into a corner, like some of our competitors..I for one am a little grateful for that this evening...
And for the record, the 700 million dollar truckload company operated better than the company's other units in the 3rd quarter, and they all did pretty well considering circumstances...so you are going to have to go look for another scapegoat...I will help you...It's the ECONOMY, and it's near collapse, that has brought us to this point...So go back into the woodwork, and relax while we get on with it...
Please tell me where you get your facts. did you look at the conway balance sheet today or what? We are going to keep stealing your freight and make money. Thsi powerful machine is only getting more powerful and will make much more money next year. we won't see it, but they are not going anywhere....
I think we all understand what the company is doing to keep itself competive, its the way their doing it that is wrong. When you let 10, 15, 20 year veterens of the company go and keep drivers with 1 year senority over them, its wrong. These other terminals are taking the freight of the closing terminals and drivers cant follow the freight because they say they only need a certain amount of drivers to cover it. And lower senority drivers at the terminal taking there freight get to keep their jobs. Tell me, how is that right. What happened to integrity, commitment. The company want us to follow their core values, but they dont.
East region closures I know.
XCL looses FAC.
XSN closes for good. City and FAC.
XAY gains both FAC's.
XSN Sharon, Pa
XMR Mentor, Oh
XLC Lancaster, Oh
XLM Lima, Oh
XXD Dansville, NY
XUC Utica, NY
XPA Pottsville, Pa
XDC Dayton, NJ
XSQ Spring Valley, NY
I might have missed a few but those are accurate.
As far as XSN.
40 drivers to XAY, 21 to XLF, 2 to XAQ, and 2 or 3 to XPB.
XAY gains most of Sharon's P&D.
XLF is gaining XSN's east and north p&d territory.
XPB and XAQ must be gaining the far south region of Sharon's former territory.
I'm lucky that I am not tied down with a house or family, and have enough seniority to make the move I want.
I'm not religious, but my thoughts and prayers are with the drivers who cannot move with the freight. I genuinely wish all those affected nothing but the best of luck.
