Yellow | Anyone heard anything from the COO hearings held today? (11/11/2008)

We sent a BA out there and in a conference call with us all last night he told us that ALL employees from BOTH companies will be dovetailed and then layoffs would come from the bottom of that list. No active or inactive lists will be used. COO will come out 12/08 and go in effect 1/09 and then another will come out to go in effet by 3/09 and ALL employees will be merged by March 2009....KK

Thanks KK. I figured the biggest move of the COO would happen in January. It's not like we've had a busy season but January is traditionally the slowest part of the year.

RDWY Winston (671) and Yellow HPT should be an easy blend. The biggest problem for our area is Yellow's BB in CLT. I don't see YRC keeping two BB's this close together (85 miles).

DS.

You say the seniority list is what they are going on. Is this going to be your total company seniority or the board that you are presently on? Can any one answer this question ???

If you've changed classifications at a two list facility, your company seniority date remains the same for benefits and vacations only. Your new effective date is the first date that you punched in on your new classification.

Hey KK. Are you saying that they are doing away with classification seniority for this (dovetail) merger. Example; if i dont have the seniority to hold a city job then i can dovetail to road with my seniority during the merger (dovetail)

The senority list at your terminals...ie...if you have 1 RDWY in Dothan and 1 yellow in Dothan....they will be merged at that location into 1 list.....KK

No I did not say that...You have 1 Roadway and 1 Yellow terminal in Nashville...you merge the Local cartage onto 1 list...you move the Road to 1 list....you move the shop to one list....you move the office to 1 list....KK

Hopefully this is worked out fairly, and correctly.
I feel if we are merging into one company then one seniority list (not including mechanics, they have a seperate contract) be established.
Then bidding take place in seniority. You hold what your seniority dictates, and what you qualify for.
Then any layoffs begin from the bottom of that list.
Now I know some places have different agreements, but we are talking about a large reduction in the work force. So I believe and hope true seniority be upheld.
(My two cents)

What may be good for you, may not be good for the whole.

KK , are you saying everyone says in their own classification, ie;road merged with road;city/dock with city/dock.....thanks

I think thats what he is saying. I think that is a bad deal to change the inactive to active and I will be bumped out of my job, but I cant cross classification with seniority....Thats wrong!!!

Senior man works first, its a merger. Hard to deal with I know, but that is the fairest way. Believe me when I say, I wish I could use my Master Seniority, and not my current.

Its hard to tell who his picking up what freight, who working what freight, and who is hauling what freight, when all the pro numbers start to look alike. What Im saying is that a lot of freight can be shifted from one or the other with no way to police it.
