If Fedex freight would spend more time creating better service for there customers in the east and keeping it in the west,they could stop trying to create a new con way and incubating a new con way egg.:TR10driving03:pd
 
It seems the current management is fixated on Con-way. If they liked it that much over there, why in the world did they come over here? I know we were happier here before they showed up.

my dumb company does the same thing, and has the nerve to have a bunch of conway rejects trying to enforce it.
 
the east service is just fine it was the fact that the west had no line haul structure. And how cares where they worked before i sure this wasnt your first job driving truck you had to learn somewhere.

Actually the west does have a linehaul structure it was just different and didn't require a terminal every 20 miles.
 
Actually , we have an advanced version of the spoke and hub. We had several spokes, and only 2 hubs. SAC and WHT. Freight was loaded and broke one time, then delivered. So much more efficient, in our opinion.

I'm not sure why the operating model of Con Way looks so appealing to management, but if you look at the old AF and
the old Viking you would find those two companies were more efficiently ran than CWX then and now.
Viking and AF has never closed 40 terminals as of yet, but we are reversing the course to our old competitor CWX model and giving them the opportunity catch us business wise.

It's sad and I hope it's not true, but I've had friends of mine
get very upset with our companies tactics on sales.

Does anyone know if it is true what our sales team is up to? I've had a couple of Big R and Yellow guys say some pretty rude things about our company.

On your sales post. I asked our sales rep straight out about telling customers about Yellow/Roadway going out of business. He told me they were told in NO WAY were they to say that. They can only tell them what is public knowledge, and let them make a decision to use them or us. It is probably in print form to make it more clear. He said it is against the law to speculate/slam Yellow/Roadway as going out of business, and leaving them in a lurch. For a salesman, he seems to be a straight shooter. I have known him for about 8 years.
 
We are their biggest competitor so of course we have a HUGE target on our back and until I see this "battle plan" they keep talking about over there then I will leave it on the table of rumor and speculation!!

And to add to that IF we were to you know.. be rude to them or point and laugh and tell them how their going down. OUR own company would probably fire us first anyway!!

I am glad I don't peddle and pick up!! I can turn C.B. OFF!! then I am deaf to the nonsense!!

2 hubs SAC and WHT thats it so you are telling me that for any skid picked up earlier that day in the west system to be delivered next day by 10 am from lets say GJN going to DEN it would have to make it to SAC or WHT get worked then make it to DEN intime for inbound to work that trailer and get it on a city van for delivery.

Don't you think it would be a lot more efficient to have more than 2 hubs when your dealing with next day service. that's pretty much what FXF is selling these days, "NEXT DAY SERVICE":1036316054:
