FedEx Freight | Fedex lays new con way egg

I'm sure it would go direct GJN to DEN

but lets just say its the only skid picked up all day long that is going to DEN would they run a trailer with just one skid on it to DEN and drop it off while making there way around the system or would the skid go to one of the ONLY TWO HUBS in the entire west system(SAC and WHT) get broke then get loaded with other Freight going to DEN. And still make it in time for my 10 am appointment window.

I'm still learning this boards stuff. Sorry I never got back to you.
SAC and WHT are not our only Break Bulk facilities, that information wasn't complete, just general. DEN may very well be one. We work on a relay system rather than hub and spoke.
I-5 north/south BB relays are Portland, Sacramento, Whittier etc.
Eastbound BB relay is Boise, Salt Lake, Denver etc. (not complete info either)
As much as possible gets loaded direct for pure loads, but partials get combined and sent along the relay getting relaoded more pure til destinations. No expert here but that's the idea. Should know more about who Breaks, been here long enough.
Rest assured though. Your one pallet would be moved straight to DEN from GJN, just for you.:1036316054:

The west breakbulks in many places...in fact, too many. The new system will simplify the entire dispatch process and streamline freight movement. The west currently uses layovers primarily to move freight, at tremendous cost.

Next issue, if 90% of the loads are the same on a day to day basis, then why are 30% of west drivers on the system board, and 40% on variable bids; thus requiring CLC/Tucson to decide what to do with 70% of the drivers daily? Too many emails and phone calls trying to co-ordinate freight that never changes.

The new system (east) has 90% of the drivers covering the 90% of the freight on schedules. The other 10% is handled on an as need basis by extra board drivers at CLC discretion.

Less emails, phone calls, discussions and decisions. Simpler system, cheaper to operate and maintain. When there is extra freight, it get's handled as overflow, by city drivers, dock-drivers etceteras.

There's a reason the eastern system was adopted. The west outgrew it's linehaul system 7 or 8 years back, and was mired in the political mud, caused by a lack of willpower in the western management team, to make necessary adjustments and fix the problems.

The Fix is in...starting january 1.

No matter how we did it,we were successful.Since 1966 when VIKING FREIGHT SYSTEM was born.We enjoyed 22% of the business-profitably-in our market .Made bonuses most of the time. Now we're down to 16%-companies numbers not mine- and fixing a system that wasn't broken with,I understand,Conway rejects. We say out here in the west,"How many Conway trucks do you see on the road versus ours". Bottom line your system worked for you in the East and ours worked for us in the West and never the twain shall meet.Go figure.

It seems the current management is fixated on Con-way. If they liked it that much over there, why in the world did they come over here? I know we were happier here before they showed up.

they came to fed-ex because con way fired them so in anger they take it out on us and enjoy doing it :chairshot:
now let the beatings begin

We get the Con-Way egg shoved down our throat by my company everytime we watch the quarterly report. No doubt, they are putting up some very good numbers. But so is FedEx and Old Dominion. Our management wants us to be like them so bad that seems to be all they can obsess about. All I need to do is go to their forum on here to see that a great deal of the drivers are extremely unhappy with most of their practices to get these numbers. Things look good on the outside, but at what cost?

What an ignorant, prejudice, and uninformed post. Next time, say it out loud before you hit the submit button.

:hand:

excuse me but there is suppose to be a bit of humor maybe you dont get it lossen up your undies and relax a bit, your wound a bit too tight.have some fun

leader ,follower.whatever..the bottom line is con-way makes money period.they are not a private company therfor their longevity benefits the employees and customers...fyi....every company wants con-way employees its because of their culture and training..its like ups managers, companies want and seek successful minded people and adapt that CULTURE....
