FedEx Freight | Company Seniority or Job Classification Seniority?

If that is the case, that makes a huge difference for me, as my company seniority date is ahead of several drivers ahead of me on the road board.

10/4. I just remember that when I changed job classifications from a city driver to a road driver that there was something that stated that my seniority would be reset from the date of the road driver hire date. Now, I am guessing that meant just in terms of my seniority to other road drivers and not my company seniority. If that were the case, I would have lost over two years in overall seniority.

They lay off by company seniority in each job classification. In other words you may have been a road driver for 5 yeas and the lowest man on the road board has only been there 1 year but as 10 years company seniority . . . well, you would go before the lower man due to his having more company seniority.

That sounds just fine with me. I have more seniority in years than two people above me on the road board.

Right On!

Layoff by seniority?

We had a driver meeting today in Reno to announce, among other things, that 5 local drivers would be laid off and no road drivers. Operating manager says that layoffs are by Job Classification Seniority. I really wish we could get a definitive answer. We will be FXFI the end of this month, is it layoff by company seniority or not?

I know in CCI and DAY they went by company senority, however, the meeting held with the city drivers in CMH this morning the question was asked and the answer was job class senority. I can believe that too since the 3 full time dock guys who got laid off all have more than 8 years full time company senority.

the way it works is by seniority in your classification
if you are bottom man in seniority on the road
you will be layed off. and you cannot go back to the city
which i dont think is fair if you been with the company for 15 years
and you are a road driver and a city man has 6 months you still get
layed off before he does........

The drivers with the least COMPANY SENIORITY in a job class will be the first laid off.

Example, if jobbob has 10 yrs with company and is #1 on the road board, and suzyq has 11 years with the company and came to the road late and is #7 on the road board, jimbob would be layed off before suzyq because suzyq has more company seniority time than jimbob does.

If it is Company Seniority I am in pretty decent shape and have about ten people below me. If it is by Job Classification Seniority, I have two below me.

jdk. i was told that someone in your position would go to the bottom of the city board.however you would be first in line to be offerd next opening on the road .you would have 1 time chance to go back to the road.if you passed on that chance then you would stay where you were on the city list.good luck i hope this helps, you may want to check with hr or call the hill to double check.
