FedEx Freight | What is FedEx Multimodal?

By sticking with regular trailers instead of intermodal boxes, they don't have to worry about equipment imbalances and chassis availability at different points. Also, not all trains are double-stack capable, especially in the Eastern half of the country - too many tunnels and other height restrictions. Also, I've seen occasions where a train gets stripped and the boxes stacked up, which limits access to the ones on the bottom. With wheels on it, the trailer can't get buried at the ramp as easily.

Took care of this one.

I think you are advertising at the wrong place dude. All posts say the same thing. Spam??

Okay Mode is transportation multi is many (which we have). These are going to be used for Road, Rail, Local OTR which equals Multi plus Modal(plural for Mode) hence multimodal which simply mean many ways for transportation. Class is dismissed

My guess is the trailers will bounce between opcos as freight is heavy west to east and ground is heavy east to west. A lot of empty miles can be saved but the issue will be tracking them. They are also roll up doors to allow them to be used in the city too.

50% of all freight (economy) will be moving on the rail. After we are back to 10 hours driving, it will save FEDEX from hiring ALL the drivers needed to convert our system back to 10 hours linehaul driving time. Our drivers can only drive 10 hours a day so, we need to hire a bunch more Road drivers to cover the new and reconfigured linehaul system that is now built on 11 hours driving time. They have known for some time what was coming so get ready for more BS in 2011.
