FedEx Freight | pallet jacks

I would call H.R. in Harrison and tell them you're not giving your name because you like your job. If more than one driver calls on this guy, they will investigate the problem.

You need to get as many people to call in as possible. They don't go for crap like that in the(:hide:EAST:hide:):hysterical:

When you call HR, just remember they do have caller ID on the hill at HRO.

As far as the pallet jack and two-wheeler, that is practically required at my barn. The P&D guys have an area just to parktheir p-jacks and dollys. They use a chain and their own lock
to be sure it will be there when they get back.

At my barn they would get crossways with a red shirt quicker
for NOT taking a p-jack and dolly.
My suggestion is call the hill (HRO) and potitely suggest they send him out to show you how do your job safely and quickly
without the right equipment to do so.

stupid red shirt

We do some real stupid stuff in the east but damn this takes the cake. I would deffinetly call Harrison, this is plain stupid. If someone gets hurt because of this morons policy a lawyer would have a field day with a case like that. Dont be intimidated by this sorry piece of s#!t, he needs to be put in his place befor one of you gets hurt. Is being indimited worth you hurting your back and ruining the rest of your life. What would you do driver if you get hurt and cant drive anymore, who will hire you with a back injury. Let Harrison:nutkick:and set him straight, red shirts like that need to go. As far as his a$$ want to know who is on here, he can :butt kiss: because we are of the clock, off the property and the federal government has a little law about freedom of speach. Fire someone over this sight and it will be on hell of a payday for them in court. Damn this red shirt pisses me off.:furious: Good luck to you drivers.

The red shirt at my terminal told us unless you have a liftgate or longvan no p&d driver is allowed to take a pallet jack,we will get disciplined if we take a jack :chairshot:
He has even gone as far as to have the pallet jacks all tied together in front of the dispatch office window on the dock! Now hears the catch, our dock has around 20 some odd forklifts (maybe more its crazy)and the dockworkers are all using forklifts!!! Hardly any dockworker uses a pallet jack like in the old days.It has forced me to leave one at one of my housestops,in case I need one.My question is,Does every terminal enforce this? BTW I am out west

I would call safety, if I were you. First, ask them the "Official" policy about this, then inquire as to what you can do to get this rectified. It sounds like your center is big enough that you don't have to worry about them finding out who called. Calling is the only recourse you have and you must use it wisely, protect your job but also protect your health (Back). This red is wrong, the company strives to give you the tools necessary for you to do your job successfully and efficiently. Just because this red is in a position of authority, does not mean that whatever they say is correct and compliant with policy and FedEx business practices. Superiority complex can be dangerous to be around especially if they are ignorant.

Do you have enough jacks to supply every city driver with a jack? If not, there should be.

Good luck; let us know what safety says.

Your joking, tell me your kidding around! You guys are supposed to be professional. How in the hell are you supposed to do your del. in a timely manner without a jack, drag it with a 2 wheeler? I know co-workers that have fallen off the back and I have fallen in the trl dragging skids back (20 some odd yrs ago when I was young and stupid) and what is a red shirt? A dock supervisor? what does the tm have to say about this?

I wish I was joking, but I am not.The red shirt at my terminal is no joke,he makes a lot of rules up on his own which is why I come here and ask you guys and gals is this what happens at your service center? 90% of the time we are told, "This is the way the east does it!" BTW a red shirt is a salaried employee.:1036316054:

Oh I forgot to mention the red shirts all aggree with each other so to answer your last ? the TM aggrees....Our red shirt OM carries out all the TM's dirty work.

You're right Kant.

I did the same thing years ago with a two wheeler.I was off about 1 1/2 months, my shoulder still gives me trouble sometimes.

Don't do anything more than you or your body can handle.:1036316054:

The company does not have your back(in more ways than one). They want you to do it all until you hurt yourself, then it's your fault, they will say you should'nt have done that. You can and will be replaced.:chairshot:

These supervisors would not be happy at our center it took us 3 and a half years and hundreds of calls to intouch HRO and our HR people.
It will take more than 1 person or phone call you people will have to stick together. If they retaliate call again take notes dates and times of every time they mess with you.
A supervisor can be fired for retaliation but it is hard to prove just have your ducks in a row when you call.

How about having your cell in your pocket and hit the record memo button when he starts talking crap?

Chain of command Bro... Ya gotta go up the ladder. Call the hotline if you need to protect your identity.

Yeah a lift gate driver might get preference on limited palet jacks but otherwise it should depend on whose got freight that needs a pallet jack. Common sense should prevail :chairshot:

My cell is old even if it had that feature I wouldn't know how to use it:biglaugh: These managers can't make up their own rules unless you sit back and let them. We had one just like Dirk is talking about.
We questioned every thing he did 99% of the time we were right. The office ladies walked into his office one day and caught him banging his head on his desk. It takes time go to your scm first with a problem even if you know he is the problem.
That is the first question you will be asked when you call in on any manager if you have talked to them about it first.

Good point Glenn.

You need to get a few people to go to the SCMs office. Then they cant single one person out.:1036316054:

We had a driver that asked me to go into the office with him for a meeting with our former scm. Our manager got really ticked off he had harassing this driver to no end he said that I would have to clock out and do it off the clock. I said no problem the meeting didn't last very long he didn't want any witnesses.

When I was in PHX.2 years ago to help with training IYour noticed and suggested that more plt.jacks might help since drivers were rerouting thier freight @ customers docks or dragging freight to unload.I have no idea if things improved but we in OXN. have plenty of jacks I was even able to score my own when my local Ferguson whse.pitched one that need a little repair work.Your red shirt is pushing for an injury, does your SMC know this ?

Another unacceptable line of cr^p from a SCM. You don't have to clock out to witness a meeting. You're still doing company buisness.

I've had a situation where the CM called me into his office along with the dispatcher. He said to close the door... I said "not without an impartial witness". Told him I'd like to have another driver join us since he had his own witness. He didn't like it but said OK... Meeting went well, dispatch was found to be wrong on all counts :1036316054:

Every now and then the driver wins one :woot:

The only thing common about common sense is that it is not common.

Sounds like someone from Harrison needs to pay a visit to this customer center , maybe someone from safety and H.R.
